"Look around, it's just tremendous," he said in reference tothe spacious new home of Huron Motor Products Ltd• GM vice president and general sales manager, D.G. Stirling, noted that the investment represented the confidence Hamather has in General Motors, adding that it was also an in- vestment in the future for the owner's two sons who assist in the firm's management. He remarked that Hamather had a Certain amount of gasoline get into his blood when he was 15 and through diligence, hard work and self - education, hadbuilt up an envious business record. Stirling concluded by suggesting the investment undertaken by the firm was a show of confidence in the automobile industry and the community. ' MP Murray Cardiff advised that Change county guest policy Huron County council members have amended their invitations ex- tended to municipalities to attend ses- sions as their guests. , A communication from county clerk Bill Hanly explained that the old policy was to invite the rrouncil and the clerk of each member municipali- ty to attend one session of council in a two-year period and that municipal officials could attend at the cost of the' local municipality - The cost involves the dinner to which municipal councils and their clerk are invited as guests of the county. The new policy states that "in future, the council and the clerk only be invited to attend county council sessions." Mayor Bruce Shaw said the new policy was either changed to indicate the municipal councils and the clerk were not extended the free dinner or that the policy contained a gram- matical error. Shaw explained that the placement of "only" indicated that the invitation was for the session and not any lunch. He said if the lunch was still to be included, the "only" should have been placed before • the clause it was modifying. Perhaps there won't be any pro- blems with the new policy if invited guests have the same reaction as clerk Liz Bell. "Who would dant to go to county council anyway?' she ask- ed after the debate. the growth of the business, culminating in the new structure, was a reflection of the type of service that had been provided to the community and the firm's customers. In reference to a comment by Stirs= Ing about servicing the London area, Cardiff quipped that "we can service the London area from here." "I think they already do," Stirling replied. Exeter • Mayor Bruce Shaw com- mended the frim for the high degree of confidence and encouragement they have shown in the community with their investment. Sl1 aur said the aggrcau ve sed of locall autoatobi a dealer, help attract onisay people to the coltupptwlty who then do business with other firms as w While noting that the dealership is ."not part of Exeter yet," the Mayor offered the support of the town in any way needed. Usborne Reeve Gerald Prout thanked the' town for "not wanting them" and explained that Usberne was moat grateful to have such an at- tractive business in the township. Tours of the facility completed the Proceedings. Motoristsbeware, parking fines up Motorists in Exeter- are advised that a new parking bjilaw has been approved by council and will be en- forced by the police department .as soon as the new tickets are printed. Chief Larry Hardy said that the tickets are expected to be ready within two weeks. Offenders will note that the penal- ty clause has changed. The minimum fine for a parking Infraction is $5 and the maximum is $15, the latter being for parking in fire zones. However, those fines are only ap- plicable when paid within 48 hours of theoffense. After that period the fine doubles and then after seven days a 1 summons is issued and the minimum fine becomes $53, rather than 55. The other major change in the bylaw is that the definition of boulevard has been changed and that applies to residents who may present- ly park on the side of streets where there are no curbs and gutters. The definition of a boulevard en- com the area between the travelledportionof the road and the pedestrian walkway. Where there is no walkway, the boulevard is con- sidered the area between the travell- ed portion of the roadway and the pro- perty line. Parking in that area is pro- ' hibited over night. • Box Assortments 99.95 To 939.95 Separate Pieces 9.89 TO $11.00 K DDIESE SPARKLERS 79$ To $3.49 (THESE ARE NOT FIRECRACKERS) Those aro feedly Mossverb which any bo Lt off ea year OWNS properly wider moat loaf bylaws.
