Estate Board was one of more than
130 members of The Canadian Real
Estate Association (CREA) who par-
ticipated in the association's national
political action committee program
here on April 15 and 16. The program
featured addresses by leading
parliamentarians and meetings with
most of Canada's MPs.
While in Ottawa, Fitzsimmons had
an opportunity to voice concerns
directly to MP Murray Cardiff,
Huron -Bruce, about the federal
deficit and its effects on interest
Cates, the case for longer term fixed
rate mortgages, and the need to en-
trench property rights in the
Constitution.
Among key speakers were i)on
Blenkard, chairman of the House of
Commons Standing Committee on
Finance, Trade and Economic Af-
fairs; Pierre Vincent, parliamentary
secretary to Finance Minister
Michael Wilson British Columbia In-
tergovernmental Affairs Minister
Garde Gardom and House of ('om-
mons Speaker John Bagley.
"Our efforts", Fitzsimmons said,
"were aimed at helping Canadian
homeowners and aspiring
homeowners by seeking improved
mortgage options, policies to ensure
lower interest rates can be maintain-
ed, and better protection for proper-
ty rights."
The Canadian Real Estate Associa-
tion is Canada's largest trade associa-
tion bringing more than 63,000
members involved in all phases of the
