Sunday morning Rev. Roger Mason
discussed guilt from James 2:10. Con-
science authoritatively speaks when
one has done something wrong inflic-
ting guilt. There is a guilt that leads
to confession of sin and turns one to
God. True guilt as in Matthew 5:21-22
and Romans 3:19 causes one to sense
God's disapproval because one has
violated God's law. The intention Is to
cause one to turn to God in repentance
and for forgiveness.
The source of true guilt speaking
through the conscience is the Holy
Spirit. Since conscience can fail, one
must use the word of God to know the
truth, as in John 16:7-11. The Holy
Spirit drives home the truth to con-
vince people of sin to lead them to
repentance.
1 John 1:19 assures us if we confess
our sins, God is faithful to cleanse us
and forgive our sins. The solution to
guilt is to receive Jesus as Saviour,
confessing sins.
Modern psychology cannot deal
with the guilt problem, as only Jesus
can deliver one from guilt, healing the
mind. Many have not grasped the ex-
tent and power of God's forgiveness.
False guilt is an imaginary thing of
feeling God's disapproval the devil
sends when one has done nothing
wrong. Revelation 12:10 tells us the
devil is the accuser of believers,
disguising himself as conscience.
The solution to false guilt is to use
the word of God to show one whether
one has done anything wrong.
Communion was served after the
service.
Rev. Roger Mason, Sunday even-
ing, from 1 Corinthians 14:1-5, spoke
concerning glossalia. This Greek
word for tongue is used 25 times in the
New Testament. Jesus said in Mark
16:15-18 that believers would speak m
tongues. Speaking in tongues should
be a common feature of a believer.
The book of Acts, the history of the
early church, from Acts 2:4, telling of
the prophetic outpouring of the Holy
Spirit. Jesus assured the disciples
they would be filled with the Holy
Spirit in Acts 1:8.
