Times-Advocate, 1986-05-07, Page 20SPECIAL PRICES IN EFFECT UNTIL • FOR MOST NORTH AMERICAN BUILT CARS 6 LIGHT TRUCKS PORIP 4A Timis -Advocate, May 7, 1986 Larger fish added to Morrison Come and get them We don't know if they will be in a hungry mood or not, but, there will be plenty of fish available for Saturday's fishing derby at Morrison Dam. The Morrison lake was stocked Monday morning with more than 400 rainbow trout and some were as big as 24 inches. Added to this are another 500 smaller trout added to Morrison a couple of weeks ago and anglers should have a busy time. The derby is sponsored jointly by the Exeter Lions Club and the Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Authority. Lions co-ordinator Brian Illman reports the derby will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday and continue until 3 p.m. with plenty of prizes to be provided to fishermen and fisherwomen of all ages. Six of the fish initiated to Morrison Dam waters Monday mor- ning were tagged with an Authority emblem. The first two caught by derby registrants anytime on Saturday or after the derby and before July 1st will receive a $50 prize. The remaining four are worth a consolation prize. We saw the fish being put into the water and this is not a fish story, but, they were the biggest we have ever seen stocked at Mor- rison. Believe it or not a couple of them were about 26 inches. Don't get too excited before Saturday. Joanne Stevenson from the fish hatchery told us they would likely not be in a hungry or for Saturday's derby biting mood for about five days. That makes it just perfect for the derby. This could be an interesting day for anglers of all ages and a chance for families to participate. The registration fee is 50 cents for children, $1 for adults and $2 for an entire family. Registration forms may be obtained at MacLean's, Canadian Sports Spotlight by Ross Haugh Tire, Fisher Pro Hardware and R.S.D. Sport Den in Exeter or the day of the derby at the Morrison Dam Conservation area. John Schwindt of the Authority asks that young boaters or non- swimmers wear Life jackets and that youngsters fishing on.shore be accompanied by an adult. Boat motors will not be allowed on the reservoir. Let's invade Morrison Dam and if you can't catch the longest fish, may be you can come up with the best story. Go for it - book, line and sinker.
