Plate artist
My thanks to Carol Penhale who
called to give me more information
concerning artist Rick Riordan who
painted the scene for theSes-
quloentennial souvenir plate. He mar-
ried Shirley McFadden, daughter of
"Mac" and Marion McFadden,
former owners of Bayfield Hardware
and the Building Centre. Rick and
Shirley are very fine and highly
respected people, and Rick's artistic
talents are known to many in the
Bayfield area.

Saturday night, Door prize winners
were Hub Thiel - a Sesquicentennial
plate; Jack and Tove Bell - Stanley
Township History Book; and Frank
Soudent - tickets to the New Year's
Eve Dance. A number of spot dance
prizes were also awarded.
A highlight of the evening was the
presentation of a trophy to Mark
Taylor and Ronnie Coleman for their
efforts in the Canoe Rally. It was
fashioned by Jerry Thiel of the Zurich
area. The trophy was mounted on a
big chunk of log, with a broken pad-
dle over it. Inscribed on the paddle
was "Donated by the Bayfield River
Spectators Club", and on the plaque
on the log was "Mix and Dip in '86,
Canoe Rally, Bayfield River, April 13,
1986. Splash and Spark and Ronnie C.,
Raft Division".
Mark and Ronnie had more than a
little trouble in completing the course
the day of the Rally. Mark accepted
the trophy. Unfortunately, Ronnie
wasn't at the dance.
