This is an in- crease of 6.7 percent over 1985; it amounts to an average tax increase for the county's 22 municipalities of 3.8 percent in education taxes as com- pared to last year's 9.9 percent increase. Board officials attribute the relatively small increase to three fac- tors: a susbstantial increase in asses- ment growth, a 1985 surplus of $851,000 and more favourable grants from the Provincial Ministry of Education. The surplus reflects the good results of the Board's expen- diture Restraint Program, now in its second year. Although the total budget increase is less than seven percent, it provides for some important major program expansions that will begin in September. First, the start of the Core French program will be moved from grade five classes to grade four. Se- cond, the five-year program to ex- pand microcomputer programs in elementary and secondary schools, as well as in administrative support ser- vices, will start. Finally, special education programs for exceptional students will be extended to more schools. To make possible these im- provements in program, education tax requisitions for municipalities Will increase on an average of 5.6 percent, ranging from 8.5 to zero. sd2 TOWNSHIP OF USBORNE TENDER FOR GRASS CUTTING Thames Road Ball Park Sealed tenders, plainly marked, are invited for a contract to cut the dross of the Thames Road Ball Park during the 1986 season.
