Molting Hawks win another tourney
':The Exeter Molting' Hawks. won
their fourth tournament of the season
on the weekend by taking the Kincar-
dine oldtimers event. This follows
,championship victories in Lucia),
'Zurich and Sarnia.
In Kincardine the Molting Hawks
downed the Walkerton Mavericks 6-2
and the Halton Hobos by scores of 5-2
and 4-3. Their only loss was 74 to the
Sarnia Sailors.
Two goals from the stick of Ken
Bergman paced the Molting Hawks to
their final victory 4-3 over Halton.
Scoring in single fashion were Scott
Burton and Jim MacDonald. Pro-
viding assists were Bill Chipchase,
Frank Boyle, Bob McDonald and Bill
Pincombe.
In the loss to Sarnia, Bob McDonald
was the scoring star for the Exeter
club with a two goal effort. Chipping

for soccer
The Exeter Centennial Soccer Club
is set to start another soccer season
in the next few months.
Final registration for soccer
players will be April 12 between 10
a.m. and 1 p.m. No registrations will
be accepted after that date.
The Club is trying to upgrade soc-
cer refereeing in this area and they
have organized two referee clinics in
co-operation with the Ontario Soccer
Association in Toronto.
The first clinic will be held April 19
from 9-5 in the library of the Exeter
Public school. Anyone past the age of
12 can sign up for this course. Com-
pletion of this course will allow for
refereeing at the Youth Recreational
level.
A two-day course will be held on
April 26 and 27 from 9-5 at the Exeter
Public school. Completion of this
course and a passing grade of 80 per-
cent on the final exam will allow the
participant to referee at youth or
junior competitive levels. Fees for
both courses are $15 per person.

The Club is also looking for parents
to get involved in coaching. Positions
are available at all levels. Every year
again it is hard to find coaches, so
please get involved and call the above
number. -
Practise for soccer is likely to start
at the end of April or early May
depending on the weather. Ganies
will start the first week of June.
Everyone will be contacted in time.

The opening tournament win over
Walkerton was enhanced by the hat
trick performance by Scott Burton.

fleboard competition at the South
Huron Rec Centre. Next came John

Wilma Davis was best in Wednes-
day's play with a high score of 404.
She was followed by Alva Heywood
393, Marshall Dearing 379, Jean Hern
355 and Bruce Watson 332.
Thursday's winner was Eldon
Heywood with a score of 374. Phil
Hern was next at 318 followed by
Albert Hummell 304, Marshall Dear-
ing 261 and Charles Hendy 257.

Jim Dickins travelled to Durham
on April 6 where he rode his Hully
Gull) Honda to a third place finish in
the 80A Motocross races. Jim will he
back on Honda April 27 when he will
try to qualify for the Toronto Super -
cross. Other local boys who par-
ticipated were John Kocan in the Jr.
125 B Class and Brian Blackburn of
Exeter in the Sr. 250 class.
