ROBERT LAING On the weekend, Sharia Freestone of Cromarty had an interesting ex- perience when she found a balloon which the wind had carried over from Michigan. In the balloon was a note which read, "Hi, Balloon -Finder! Our school is participating in the weekly Reader Writing Pals balloon contest. Please put this message into an envelope along with your name, address, and telephone number, and city and state in which you found this message. Mail it to me at the above address. TeII your local paper that you heard from me. If you write to me, I'll write back." The balloon was sent up from Schell Elementary School, 325 East Frank St., Caro, Michigan, on March 17. 1986. And, speaking of finds, a licence plate bearing the number VFC 925, was found Sunday evening about half a mile west of Cromarty. The owner may have it by contacting Ruth La- ing at 345-2326. It is possible that it was least by someone at Jim Miller's sale on Saturday. This would be a good week to clean up the roadside in front of your pro- perty. Sunday night in 12 mile stretch I found three beer bottles, one pop bottle, two beer cans - a good donation toward Comarty Scout's bot- tle drive on Saturday.
