Easter Service
• A well attended church service was
h@lit Sunday morning. The choir and
the minister proceeded up the aisle
singing "Christ The Lord Is Risen"
' along with the congregation. The
responsive reading was read from
Psalm 66:1-n. . We sang the children's
song "Walk Softly In Springtime."
Rev. Robert Matheson told the
children's story entitled "Symbol of
Easter: The Butterfly". The choir
sang two anthems "Because He
Lives" and "An Easter Song" accom-
panied by the organist Miss Agnes
Bray.
The scripture lesson was read from
Isaiah 65:17-25, 1 Corinthians 15:14-26,
John 20:1-18. The sermon was entitl-
ed "Our hope Knows No Bounds."
Paul tells an astonished and
unbelieving audience about the resur-
rection of Christ. The people of Cor-
inth represent the 'doubting
Thomases of every generation. How
could anyone possible be raised,
physically, from the dead? Paul tells
us Jesus was raised by God to show
he has control over the universe - even
though human beings challenge that

UCW meets of Elimville
By SHIRLEY COOPER
Elimville
The Elimville United Church
Women met Wednesday evening at
the church. President Mrs. Floyd
Cooper opened the meeting with a
poem. The United Church Women's
Purpose was repeated by all. The roll
call was answered by "Bring an
Easter egg".
An invitationwas received from
Thames Road United Church Women
to attend their meeting, April 7.
The members were reminded to
save old nylons, clothes, stamps and
grocery tapes.
The banquet that we are catering to
has been changed from October 15 to
October 22. The regular meeting will
then be held October 29.
The London Conference Annual
meeting will be held April 14 and 15
at Stratford United Church.
Rev. Bob Matheson installed the
United Church Women officers for the
year.
The meeting was turned over to
Mrs. Marion Skinner and Mrs. Philip
Johns who had planned an Easter
meeting. Mrs Skinner opened with the
theme and prayer. Everyone joined
in the hymn "Joyful, Joyful We Adore
Him". .
Mrs. Elson Lynn read the scripture
lesson. Mrs. Skinner read an article
authority at every turn. Jesus' resur-
rection was the first resurrection - the
taste of what is yet to conte.
Have you ever tossed a small stone
into a pond on a very still day and
watched the ripples its landing caus-
ed in the water? Those ripples kent
moving outward with new ripples
following. Jesus' resurrection reaches
outward to draw others throughout
creation into the re-creation of God's
universe: drawing people from every
era in history into the Kingdom of
God.
Jesus' resurrection is not
something which occurred in the
past: we are to see it as happening
outside of time (time is a human con-
cept). The resurrection ripples reach
both back and forward in time to in-
clude the members of every human
generation, every nation and every
society and every way -of-life!
Thames Road U.C.W. meeting will
be held on Monday, April
7 at 8 p.m. We are entertaining. The
roll call "Give a Shortcut for
Ilousecleaning".
A combined session meeting will be
held Monday, April 14 at 8 p.m. in
Thames Road Church
on "Joy". Mrs. Larry Lynn read a
story about a boy named -"Ben".
Several Easter poems were read by
Mrs. Jim Wilkinson. "What is
Easter" was read by Mrs. Skinner,
which she followed by a prayer.
A skit "Go and tell" with Mrs. Skin-
ner, Mrs. Millie Fulton, Mrs. Jake
Hovius and Mrs. Howard Pym taking
part followed.
Mrs. Johns opened her Bible study
with a poem "Called By Name". The
Biblestudywas on the six "Marys" in
the New Testament.
.Mrs. Skinner had a short Easter
quiz and an egg which had 43 items
in it. You would never guess what she
in that little ordinary hen egg.
A good number from the Thames
Road-Elimville pastoral charge at-
tended the Good Friday service at
Elimville church. Mrs. Howard Pym,
Mrs. Don Kerslake, Anne Delbridge
and Catherine Johns sang the an-
them. The Sacrament of the Lord's
Supper was also received at this time.
Forty early risers were up to attend
the young peoples' Easter Sunrise
Breakfast and worship service Sun-
day morning. Rev. Matheson led in
the worship service with several
others helping.
Sunday morning during church a
special musical Easter pageant "Son
Rise" was presented by the Sunday
school. This was very well presented
and a speoial "thank you" should go
to everyone involved.
A large dumber from the communi-
ty attended the Open House for Mr.
and Mrs. Philip Johns on the occasion
of their 40th wedding anniversary.
