Paul tells an astonished and unbelieving audience about the resur- rection of Christ. The people of Cor- inth represent the 'doubting Thomases of every generation. Jesus' resur- rection was the first resurrection - the taste of what is yet to conte. Have you ever tossed a small stone into a pond on a very still day and watched the ripples its landing caus- ed in the water? Those ripples kent moving outward with new ripples following. Jesus' resurrection reaches outward to draw others throughout creation into the re-creation of God's universe: drawing people from every era in history into the Kingdom of God. Jesus' resurrection is not something which occurred in the past: we are to see it as happening outside of time (time is a human con- cept). The resurrection ripples reach both back and forward in time to in- clude the members of every human generation, every nation and every society and every way -of-life!
