WAXERS WIN TWO
The Exeter Waxers turned in ex-
cellent efforts in a recent novice tour-
nament in Thornbury.
After defeating Erin 18-1 and Angus
3-1, the Waxers dropped a 2-1 heart-
breaker to Caledon in sudden -death
overtime in the 'A' final.
In the first game lopsided victory,
Ted Hoffman led the Waxers with
four successful shots. Trevor Taylor,
Steve Stire, Jason Clay and Sean
McCann were next with three goals
apiece. Scoring singles were Gavin
Snell and Jamie van Dam.
Chris McDonald was the top
playmaker with six assists. Ian Jean
and Sean McCann werenext with four
assists. Trevor Taylor and Steve Stire
helped on three goals each, Gavin
Snell gained two assists while Matt
Godbolt and Jamie van Dam had one
each.
In the 3-1 win over Angus, Sean
McCann scored twice for the Waxers
and Steve Stire called a single. All
goals were unassisted.
The `A' final was close from start
to finish. Sean McCann put the Wax-
ers ahead in the first period only to
have Trevor Knox tie it up.
That's the way the score remained
until Chris Presswood scored the win-
ner for Caledon at 1.26 of sudden -
death overtime.
McCann's goal was his 75th of the
season in 50 games.

The new president wants to start
early with possibly a couple of prac-
tices during the summer to "see what
we have when normal training camp
starts in mid-September.
He went an to say, "The junior
team has been the base of hockey
over the years and the future of in-
termediate teams like the Mohawks
depend on it."
The 1986-87 Hawks will likely have
a new look. Bogart is coming up with
a new sweater concept and a number
of players are in favour of going back
to wearing short pants.
In addition to president Bogart, the
executive includes vice-presidents
Silvere Backe and Elaine Gould,
secretary Cord Rook. and treasurer
Helen Pratt. Directors are Charlie At -
thin, Kathy Whiteford, Elaine Bogart,
Al Quinn, John Skea, Jim Pfaff,
George Pratt and Terry Wright.
Trainers for the 1986-87 Hawks will
be George Pratt and Andy McIntyre.

home gold medals and a trophy after
winning the B Championship in the In-

It was a brand new ball game for
the Has Beans the following day as
they came out hopping higher and
faster than their opposition provided
by the Zurich, Switzerland

The "B" final opposition for the Has

this time it was sweet revenge for the
Zurich team winning 3-2.
It was a dramatic goal from the
stick of Bob Johnston at the nine se-
cond mark of sudden -death overtime
that allowed the Has Beans to bring
gold medals home. Glen Thurman
and Bob Merner assisted on the game
winner.
In regulation time, Rick Schilbe
fired both successful shots for the Has
Beans. Assisting were Don O'Brien,
Kevin McKinnon and Bob Merner.
The 47 -member group of players,
wives and supporters returned to
Zurich, Canada, with vivid impres-
sions of a very clean, quiet, safe and
friendly Zurich, Switzerland. They
noticed the high price of food and
other goods; coffee was more expen-
sive than beer, at $1.40 Canadian per
cup, and a watch on display in a store
carried a price tag that translated in-
to more than $50,000.
Most city residents live in apart-
ments, with few single family dwell-
ings to be seen.
