The Huron Park novice team cap-
. Lured the "A" championship of a re-
cent novice tournament in St. Marys.
In the first game win by a score of 5-2
over Strathroy. Jim Rutten picked up
a bat trick with assists going to Jason
Heist, Craig Glavin and Steve
Hendrick.

The final two goals were registered
by Brent Mills with Jim Dietrich and
Jim Rutten assisting. Brent Mills was
named the game's most valuable
player.
The next opposition came from
Norwich and the Huron Park
youngsters won by a score of 4-0.
Craig Glavin opened the scoring by
converting a pass from Jim Rutten,
Brent Mills hit on a three-way effort
with Jeff Glavin and Brent Gibson
assisting, Steve Hendrick tallied from
Brent Mills and Jeff Glavin and Bill
Hodge wound up the scoring on
passes from Craig Glavin and Jim
Rutten.
Andy Glavin was in goal to record
the shutout and the game's most
valuable player was Steve Hendrick.
The Huron Park team had little
trouble in the final disposing of Byron
11-3.
Brent Mills led the scoring attack
with a four goal performance. Doug
Wiliam and Jim Rutten assisted .Bill
Hodge and Brent Gibson scored in
double fashion and single goals were
added by Jim Rutten, Doug Wilson
and Steve Hendrick.
Huron Park goalie Andy Glavin
was named most valuable.
The "A" championship of a recent
tyke tournament in Clinton was won
by Stephen township.
The opening win by a score of P 1
over Goderich was powered by a
three goal effort by Matt Glavin. Dar-
ryl Parsons fired two successful shots
and single scores were notched by
John Rutten, Matt Resler, Kurt Mills
and Derek Sweitzer.
In the semi-final contest, the
Stephen youngsters edged Lucan 5-4.

Hensall won the Huron -Perth Tier
Two bantam league championship
Sunday by defeating the Exeter Blues
by a 7-2 score. They reached the final
by downing Goderich 5-1, Friday
night.
Against Goderich, the first ilensall
score came in the second period as
Jason Imanse counted on passes from
Rob Taylor and Steve McCullough.
After Goderich tied the score late
in the middle frame, Hensall blew the
game wide open in the final session.
Shawn Vanstone hit on passes from
Brian Moir and Jim Dickins. The
latter converted passes from ,The
Phillips .and Dwayne Lawrence.
Jason Imanse registered his second
of the night with Taylor and Vanstone
helping out and Scott Bell wrapped it
all up with assists going to Dickins
and Moir.
In another semi-final contest, the
Exeter Blues pulled an upset by
defeating the Exeter Sabres for the
first time this year 3-1.
In the championship final Hensall
downed the Exeter Blues 7-2. The
score after two periods was tied at 2-2.
Jim Dickins from Shawn Vanstone
and Brian Moir and the latter scored
on passes from Bell and Dickins. Rob
McKnight registered one of the Ex-
eter goals.
The third period again proved fruit-
ful for Hensall with five unanswered
goals. Brian Moir fired two successful
Marshall best
in shuffleboard
Lorne -Marshall recorded a score of
481 to win Tuesday's shuffleboard
competition at the South Huron Rec
Centre. Next came Verda Lightfoot
431, Phil Hern 429, Wilma Davis 398
and Albert Rummell 362.
Hummell came right back to cop
Wednesday's action with a score 0.
356. Following were'IToward Johns
271, Verda Lightfoot and John Pepper
270, Mabel McKnight 231.
A score of 449 allowed Meine
Eizenga to take first prize in Thurs-
day's play. Ile was followed by Eldon
Heywood 378, Howard Johns and
Charles Hendy 329, and 011ie Essery

Goalie Rob Wareing picked up three
assists. Getting one each were Moir,
Bell, Imanse, Volland and Vanstone.
The potluck dinner for all Hensall
minor hockey players and their
families will be April 6 at the arena.
The Hensall pee wee team has had
a highly successful playoff and tour-
nament year.
In their first tournament at Ripley
they reached the finals by beating
Brussels in an exciting shoot out. Dur-
ing Young Canada Week at Goderich
they again fought their way to the
finals beating Mildmay and Platt-
sville 3-0 and 5-2, respectively,
Paisley defeated Hensall 3-1 in the
final.
In OMHA playoffs they lost their
first game to Zurich 7-4. The Hensall
'team rebounded and eliminated
Zurich three straight by scores of 9-1,
f$-3 and 5-3. Drayton was beaten two
straight in the quarter finals by
scores of 4-3 in both games. The semi
finals were taken by Ripley in two
hotly contested matches.
In the WOAA consolation round the
Hensall pee wees have again reach-
ed the finals by putting Brussels out
two games to one.

the 4-2 championship victory over
Hensall.
Scoring one goal each for Hensall
were Cara Gardner and Mark Bell.
