In this week's Young Canada pee wee tourney in Goderich, the Exeter club downed Port Elgin 6-2 and were blanked 8-0 by the host Goderich team. In the win over Port Elgin, David Schwindt and Jamie Bedard led the Exeter scoring attack with two goals apiece. Scoring in single fashion were Steve Dubarry and Mark Burton. Top playmakers with two assists • each were Alan Blommaert and Harlen Tinney. Helping on one goal each were Todd McCann, Dave O'Connor, Tim van Dam and Mark Burton. Waxers lose out in Shamrock final The Exeter Waxers were defeated 6-4 by Parkhill for the Shamrock "B" novice championship after beating Thamesford 3-1 in the semi-final. In exhibition play, the Waxers downed Clinton 4-2 and edged the Ex- eter atom rI team by a score of 4-3. Steve Stire and Sean McCann each scored two goals in the final loss to Parkhill. All Exeter goals were unassisted. Scoring single goals for Parkhill were Warren Haist, Josh Vermeulen. Ryan Sheppard, Jamie Chalmers, Jamie Martelle and Chris Stanlake. Marty DeBruyn, Steve Stire and Trevor Taylor were the Exeter marksmen in the win over Thamesford. Eric Clay gained a pair of assists and Sean McCann and Mar- ty DeBruyn each helped on one score. In other games, the Whalers edged Algoma Tire 5.4, Pfaff Electric defeated Exeter Inn 3-1 and the Outlaws edged the Whalers 4-3. Brian Taylor -and Mark Cronyn scored two goals apiece in the Young and Restless win over the Whalers. Scoring in single fashion were Glenn Thurman, Gary Sararas and Dave Prout. Counting for the losers were Rick Gilfillan, Ed Willis and Jeff Musser. Tops for the Young and Restless against the Colonials with two sue- . cessful shots each were David Atthill, Gary Sararas and Brian Taylor. A lone goal was notched by Barry Mills. The Colonial goals came from the sticks of Larry Johns with two and Marty Overholt a single. Single scores by Dave Hayter, Rick Gilfillan, Terry Zachar, Dave Bell and Mark Vandergunst paced the Whalers to their win over Algoma Tire. Scoring for the Tiremen were Gerald Weido, Greg Hern, Dave Jackson and Phil Turner. Ken Pinder, Bob Bilinsky and Rick Lindenfield with single goals paced Pfaff Electric over Exeter Inn. The only goal for the Inn was fired by Gary Levier. Shuffleboard Philip Hern was the winner in Tues- day's regular shuffleboard competi- tion with a score of 375. He was follow- ed by Ross Richardson, 370; Lloyd Lovell, 364; Marshall Dearing, 360 and Ernie Ross, 309. A score of 332 allowed Alva Heywood to win in Wednesday's ac- tion. Next came Delmer Skinner, 312; Howard Johns, 236; Harold. Davis, 223; Meine Eizenga, 221 and Belva Rowe, 218. Thursday's winner with a score of 432 was Delmer Skinner. In order came Marshall Dearing, 379; Ray Cottle, 359; Gordon Hoggarth, 349 and Lloyd Lovell, 339. Midgets win Wingham_ event Exeter Kinsmen Midgets won the 'C' consolation championship in a Wingham midget tournament on the weekend with a convincing 7-2 vic- tory over Hespeler in the final. The Generals jumped into an early 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Bryan Quinn and ChrisTiedeman. Jon O'Connor, Jim Lewis, Buddy Richardson and Jeff Dalrymple pick- ed up assists. In the second period Richardson scored on a solo effort and then set up Tim Moore to the give the locals a 4-2 lead after two periods. In the third; O'Connor teamed.with Mark Morrissey, while Lewis and Tiedeman garnered unassisted markers to round out the scoring. Fred Gregus provided solid goalkeep- ing for the winners. Seaforth downed the Generals 5-3 in the first game of the tournament on four goals by Kevin Cooper. Scoring for Exeter were Paul Meliecke, Dar- ryl McCann and Richardson. Dave Russel lead the playmakers with two assists while McCann and Mellecke added singles, Steve McIntyre lead Exeter to a 3-2 victory over St. George when he scored with less than a minute re- maining in the second game to send Exeter into the 'B' championship. The goal wascIntyre's second of the gable and hettso assisted on Ex- eter's other goal by'Jim Lewis. Lewis and Richardson picked up the only other assists in the game. The Generals are coached by Mike Stewart and Tom McCann. over the Whalers who got single goals from Dave Bell, Brad Coates and Terry Baker. T -A photo Irish season ends The 1965-86 season for the Lucan Irish came to a quick end Tuesday night as they dropped a 6-3 decision to the Mount Brydges Bulldogs at the Lucan arena. It was the seventh and deciding game of a best -of -seven semi-final series in the Ontario Hockey Associa- tion Western Junior "D" southern division. The Irish who were in first place for most of the regular schedule led the series three games to two before los- ing in disastrous fashion 10-8 in over- time on March 2 sending the series to a sudden -death contest. In Tuesday's final game, Paul Barnes, Brent Martin and Brent Larsen scored one goal each to ac- count for the Dish scoring. The sixth Mount Brydges goal was scored into an empty net. In the south final the Belmont Bombers are two games up on Mount Brydges with the third game tonight, Wednesday, in Belmont. The playoff situation in the north division has fivb teams playing a round-robin series with the top two teams to meet in a best -of -seven final. Currently Seaforth, Tavistock and Grand Valley are tied at the top with five victories each. A very important game goes Saturday night when Tavistock travels to Grand Valley. Broncos split with . Clinton The Exeter Broncos and Clinton split a pair of Western Ontario Athletic Association atom games this week. In Clinton the Exeter club posted a 5-3 victory and back in Exeter it was Clinton's turn to be victorious by a score of 7-3. Brad Thompson led the Exeter scoring attack in the first game with a three goal effort while Joel Smith and Paul Charrette counted in single fashion. Joel Smith led in assists with two while Jason Heywood, Al McFalls, Ryan Lindenfield and Fred Steciuk gained single assists. Leading Clinton with one goal and one assist each were Shawn Chip - chase and Jason Carter. The other Clinton score was notched by Danny Wildfong. Shawn Chipchase paced the Clinton scoring Attack in the 7-3 victory with a three goal performance. Counting in single style were Danny Wildfong, Jason Carter, Mark Livermore and Chris Kennedy. Scoring one goal apiece for the Broncos were Jason Heywood, Joel Smith and Al McFalls. G.
