their three -game sweep of the
Tavistock Royals, winning game
three in Exeter, Friday, by a convin-
cing 114 count.
The Tribe will now meet Hillsburgh
in a best -of -five semi-final. Game one
goes in Exeter this Friday with a star-
ting time of 9:00 p.m.
Game two will be played In
Hillsburgh on Saturday and the third
game will be hack in Exeter on Sun
day as the teams wrap up a busy,
weekend. GametMne for the Sunday
contest is 7:30 p.m.
A fan bus will bit arranged for the
trip to Hillsb'tu gh ° on Saturday if
enough interest is shown. People

Barry Baynham and Kraut.
Louis Arts started in thannets for the
locals `and ended up with 27 saves
before giving way to Pete Parsons in
the third. The latter turned aside six
shots.
Tavistock managed to , win the
penalty parade as they sat out 11 of
the 20 minors called. Both teams
scored once on the powerplay.
The status of. goalie Rick Pikuf for
the balance of the playoffs remains a
question mark. He was scheduled for
arthroscopic surgery on a knee on
Tuesday. Jim Benn, who -had the
same treatment, could be ready for
action if the Mohawks get past
Hillsburgh, while Dave Kinsman, out
with a cracked rib, could play as early
as this weekend.

Panthers lose in final;

Unsuccessful in their bid for a
Huron -Perth conference champion-
ship this week, the South Huron Pan-
thers will get one more chance at
glory this weekend when they com-
pete in the WOSSA "AA" champion-
ship at Strathroy.
After thumping Stratford Central in
the conference semi-final on Tuesday,
the Panthers were dumped in two
straight by Goderich in the best -of -
more chance
three loop final.
However, both teams will be in the
WOSSA competition this weekend
where they'll battle Sarnia Northern,
Sarnia St. Pats, Dorchester, Medway,
St. Thomas Central Elgin and Tillson-
burg for the silverware.
Coach Terry O'Rourke expects his
Panthers to be seeded sixth or
seventh in the event. It's a single
knockout tournament.
In the conference semi-final, Chris
Pearen paced the 82-65 win against
Stratford with a 35 -point game. Cen-
tre Rob Tait added 23 and Scott Miller
also hit for double figures with 13.
It,was one of the best performances
of the season for the South Huron
crew and accomplished the goal set
of making the final and the "AA"
tournament.
In Thursday's opener against
Goderich, the locals couldn't cope
with the well -disciplined undefeated.

It was the third loss of the year to

the weekend, they could meet up
again in the WOSSA championship.

Atoms busy,
play six times
The Exeter pee wees allowed two
goals in the final minutes of their se-
cond game of the Mitchell pee wee •
tournament, Saturday, and ended up
on the sidelines.
The locals started off on the right
foot as they posted a 2-0 win over
Goderich in the opening contest.
The teams skated through two
scoreless periods before David O'Con-
nor scored the winner on a play with
Mark Burton.
O'Connor.came back with his se-
cond tally of the game to put it away
when he finished off a three-way play
with Steve DuBarry and' Jamie
Cornish.
That win sent Exeter against
Fergus in the next game and they led
4-3 until the final minutes when
Fergus erupted for the win with Ex-
eter playing short-handed.
Steve DuBarry scored a pair for
Exeter with singles contributed by
O'Connor and Dave Dalrymple. Cor-
nish had two assists and helping out
on one goal each were Blommaert,
DuBarry, Burton, Haden Tinney and
Jim Ahrens.

Bell atoms
are ousted
Huron Park eliminated Exeter Bell
atoms from further WOAA playoff ac-
tioa as they took their series in three
straight games.
Tuesday night in Exeter, the locals
tried to even the set at one game each,
but Huron Park prevailed 1-0 In a
tight struggle.
The lone goal came on a powerplay
by Tom Gullage.
Huron Park hosted game three and
came away with a 6-2 win. Exeter
scored the first and last goals of the
contest.
Mark Glavin and Rob Kramer
scored a pair each to lead the win-
ners, with singles going to Jim Rut -
ten and Tom Gullage.
Kevin Johns and Brent Southcott
replied for Exeter.

The Exeter atoms have been busy.
They ended up as runnersup in a tour-
nament in Thornbury, tied Petrolia in
an exhibition contest and dropped a
3-0 decision to Lambeth in zone play.
In Thornbury, the locals bombed
the host squad 12-2, edged Meaford
3-2, and after losing to Shallow Lake
by a 3-1 count, came back to last
Flesherton 6-0.
Jason Heywood ended the tourna-
ment as Exeter's top scorer with 11
goals. He scored four in two of the
contests. Fred Godbolt added for
tallies and two each came off the
sticks of Brad Thompson and Fred
Steciuk. Notching one goal each in the
four games were Paul Charrette,
Mltrk Brintnell and Ryan Lindenfield.
Charrette and Allan McFalls pick-
ed up three assists each and getting
a pair were Jeff Lingard, Brintnell,
Darren Kints and Mark Lynn. Help-
ing out on single markers were God -
bolt, Steciuk and Lindenfield.
Richard Phillips was in the nets for
all four contests.
Against Petrolia, the locals opened
the scoring after 46 seconds of play
and then added their fourth marker
with under two minutes left in thecon-
test to get the tie.
Heywood scored three of the goals
and Steve Farquhar added the other.
McFalls, Lindenfield, Lynn, Lingard,
Joel Smith and Charrette helped out
on one goal each.
