King's and Queen's of Hearts -
King's and Queen's of hearts are
when February is here we have a
King or Queen. We are going to make
a band for the King or the Queen. The
King or Queen are nice to all the kids
so King's and Queen's are nice.- Jeni
Mae Pfaff.
Marshmallow's Message- I • love
marshmallow messages. Do you
know why? Because they're soft and
fuzzy. We get to listen to one every
day. I really like them. One of the
reasons I like them is because there
is one for every month. Another
reason is because they have poems,
songs and jokes. We read these after
Opening Exercises. Mrs. Skillender
has lots of fun reading them. We have
lots of fun listening to them. My
favorite one was a Big Heart.- Lisa
Morlock
Division- Grade three have been
learning division. We have been lear-
ning division for a week or two. We
have been doing pretty good. Right
now we have doing 30 divided by 10
and 30 divided by 3. We have'fun with
division. Some of us need a little help.
Division is easy when you know how
to think out your facts.- Jayson

Public Speaking -For public speak-
ing you need a speech and after you
know what you are going to talk about
you write it out on a paper. Then you
put in on the cue cards. After you get
it on the cue cards you keep on prac-
tisingit over and over. Then you will
get better and then you Will not have
to read your cue cards, you will have
good eye contact and you will get bet-
ter points and you might even win. -
Heather Hutchison
Public Speaking -Mrs. Skillender
talked to us about public speaking. I
did not like the idea but when I started
to write my speech I kind of liked it.
When it was time to say my speech 1
was scared. There were three groups.
I said mine on Tuesday. My speech
was on "The Care of Pets". I was all
done my speech. That day Mrs.
Skillender picked three people to say
their speech over again. She picked
me, Kim and Andy. Every group she
picked three out of to say their speech
again on February 4. Mrs. Skillender
picked four people. They are Kim, An-
dy, Cathy and me. Those people could
say it again if they want to for Junior
Speak -Offs. It was fun but I was
scared.- Lisa Eagleson
No Smoking -Last health lesson we
learned not to smoke because the
smoke could get in your lungs. Then
the dried up leaves will get caught in
your lungs. Then your lungs will be
dirty. Then the tars would stick to
your lungs. That is bad. I hope nobody
in my family smokes. Some people
are lazy and all the: ' a chair
or on the couch and.snlun.., -. d drink
beer. Smoking I don't like. I wish peo-
ple would stop smoking.- Jamie
Chalmers
Valentines Mailbags -Tuesday we
made Valentine mailbags. The col-
ours were two kinds of purple, pink
and blue. We had to cut out hearts and
paste them onto the bags Mrs.
Skillender gave us. We also had to cut
a little piece off the top. We also had
• to hang up the bags. Then in our spare
time we could write messages to
anyone we want to write to. We had
to write nice messages to our friends. -
Cathy Wagner
Pancake Day -On Tuesday it was
Pancake Day. We went to the gym to
eat the pancakes. Do you know how
to make pancakes? They put baking
soda, one egg and milk to make it.
Does it ever taste good. Mom made
pancakes the same way I like pan-
cakes. I enjoy making them it is fun.
It is fun looking at it in the food pro-
cessor. The pancakes were hearts and
ovals. I had one ovals and two hearts. -
Heather Wragg
Pancake Day -On Pancake Day it is
Shrove Tuesday. Three pancakes for
75 cents. You have to bring a fork,
knife and plate. The people who serve
you give a slice of butter and syrup.
The pancakes are good. We sit in the
gym and eat them at the tables and
chairs. It is fun to have pancakes on
Shrove Tuesday.- Amy Rader

Room 12's Valentine Party
We had a wonderful Valentine's
Day Party in Room 12. We made
Valentines bags that said two "heart-
warming" things. We all had some
treats and gave each other a Valen-
tine and many thank-you's. We want
everyone to be nice all year, not just
today.
Language Art Books
We all get new Language Arts
books and Ms. Thomson gets the old
ones. We have tests on it and stories
and sentences, and sometimes we
draw pictures in it. Sometimes it is
hard and sometimes it is easy. The
most fun is that you get lots of stickers
and stamps.

Miss Rath
Miss Rath owns the library. Room
nine goes every Thursday. The
library saved money from the book
fair and used it to buy new books.
Room nine gets books from Miss
Rath. Miss Rath reads books to the
school. She wants us to read.

Education was the topic for the
February meeting of the Clandeboye

Ten members and one visitor
answered the roll call "What schools
did you attend?" which created a lot
reminiscing and discussion.
Olive Simpson, retired elementary
schbol' Midler; ' fk eserited an ex-
cellent paper on "The Meaning of
Education". We have come a long
way since the Little Red Schoolhouse.
She displayed and described a
variety of school books from "Then"

cute child's story, entitled "A Terri-
