The euchre party at the Communi-
ty Centre was cancelled January 27
owing to the storm . The next euchre
will be held February 10 weather
permitting.
The pupils of McCurdySchool,
Huron Park had a day of toboganning
and other winter sports at the Pinery,
Friday. All report an enjoyable day.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Powe visited
their daugthers for the weekend. Mr.
and Mrs. Ron Brittain and family of
Markham and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce
Brandon and family, Uxbridge.
Mrs. Von Overholt and Pauline
visited Sunday with Von's brother
Frank Maloney who is a patient in
Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

Craig seniors enjoy fun

Upon their arrival at the Ailsa
Craig United Church Sunday morning
January 26, Miss Margaret Wilson
greeted everyone at the church door.
Rev. Anne Beattie extended a warm
welcome to all, and told the Sunday
school children an exciting story
"about Alexander" before they
retired to the basement to their
classes.
Continuing in the service, scrip-
tures were read from Nehemiah
chapter 8, and from Luke 4, with Rev.
Beattie choosing as her sermon
'Strength through Joy".
The offering was received by four
United Church Women, Mrs. Rosser,
Mrs. Gary Tweddle, Wilma McIntosh
and Alice Dichens. The choir led in
workship as they sang, Leaning, lean-
ing on the everlasting arm.
For the next six months, this church

service will commence February 2nd
at 10:15 a.m.
Seniors meet
A group of seniors met Friday night
in the Activity Centre for games
night. This sure was a fun program
when a variety of table games were
enjoyed.
As Ervin Gingerich, president of
the Centre, would be celebrating a
birthday the next day, all sang "Hap-
py Birthday" to him.
He announced that three films will
be shown February 14 at 7:30 p.m.
and a dessert euchre on Monday,
February 17 at 1:15 p.m.
Thank you was expressed to Ervin
and his wife, Alice, for providing a
variety of tasty cookies along with
tea.
After the lunch, some of the crowd
resumed playing crokinole to close a
pleasant evening.
Plan supper
The Board of Stewards of the
United Church plan a pancake supper
on February 11 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
in the church basement followed by
the United Church Women meeting,
for men as well, to see the Gideon
presentation. -

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bice, Mit-
chell, visited on Sunday with Mrs. Ida
Bice at Craigholme.
Don't you agree the Country Guide
weather report predictions are fair-
ly accurate? It predicted near -
blizzard conditons near the 24th! And
what did we have on the 27th? Oh
well, how will the ground hog see
things. Time will tell.
It's "hats off" to the village road
crew who keep our streets and
sidewalks in "apple pie order."

89th birthday, January 30th with his
family.

with Mr. and Mrs. George Cameron,

Monday, February 10 there will be
a pot luck supper prior to the annual
meeting at Zion United Church. It was
scheduled for 6:30 and has been
changed to 6 p.m. Please note time
change.
The sermon topic at Zion United
Church was taken from Exodus 17:1-7
and Matthew 4:1-11 titled "When We
Prevail Over Temptation."
The U.C.W. meeting will be held
Thursday, February 6 at 8 p.m. in the
Sunday School rooms.
Choir practice will be Wednesday at
8 p.m.
Crediton Women's Institute are
sponsoring a euchre on Thursday,
February 6 at 8:15 -p.m. at the
Crediton Community Centre.

The annual meeting of Elimville
United Church was held January 26
following a pot luck dinner.
Rev. Bob Matheson chaired the
meeting and minutes of the previous
congregational meeting were read by
secretary Grace Pym.
A well prepared annual report
booklet gave information of the year's
activities on the Thames Road
pastoral charge and in each of the
churches.
Reports were read from the
U.C.W., Elimville Mission and Ser-
vice, Sunday School, Choir, Cemetery
Board and the Financial Statement.
Treasurer Howard Johns commented
on the report as well as the Joint
Treasurers Statement clarifying the
receipts and expenditures.
The reports of the Session, the
Christian Education Committee and
the Manse Committee of the pastoral
charge as well as those of the mid
week groups were received - the
Fellowship Club, C.G.I.T., Explorers,
Messengers and Youth Group pro-
viding highlights of their activities.
Appreciation was expressed to all
groups and their leaders, to the
organist and choir and to the officers,
and teachers of the Sunday School
who are actively participating each
week with an increasing enrolment.
Nominated to the Board of Manage-
ment for a three year term are Dan
Smith, Fred Delbridge and Don
Kerslake. Returned for two years are
Larry Taylor, Brian Pym and Gerald
Johns and for one year Harold
Kerslake, Larry Fulton, Michael
Elford. Representatives from the
UCW are Brenda liovius and Kay
Grubb.
Session members are John Batten,
Floyd Cooper, Bruce Delbridge, Mar-
jorie Johns, Shirley Kerslake and
Elson Lynn.
Allan Johns was reappointed to the
Cemetery Board and Ruth Skinner to
be the Mission and Service treasurer.
It was decided to again subscribe to
the 'Every Family Plan' of the
Observer, the United Church monthly
magazine. Families will notify the
Observer secretary, Kay Grubb if
they do not wish to receive it.
Sharon Lynn and Delmer Skinner
will he the examiners for 1986.
Special thanks was given to the
choir, the Young People's Class and
the UCW for their efforts in making
possible the renovation and
redecorating of the frbnt wall, and the
new carpet which add to the beauty
of the sanctuary.
The trustees were appointed to act
as a liaison committee between the
congregation, and people with sugges-
tions for projects that may be financ-
ed through the Memorial Fund of the
church.
Rev. Matheson thanked the con-
gregation for their support and co-
operation to himself and Ann during
a year of prayer, reflection and much
growth.
Bruce Delbridge, clerk of session
expressed thanks to Rev. Matheson
for his ministry during the past year.
