It's time
You got
to know
us.
Enrollment continues at capacity at
Centralia College of Agricultural
Technolgy and this is due in part to
the excellent public information
seminars provided to high schools
throughout southwestern and central
Ontario.
Public information officer Helga
Strenzke visits the counties of Huron,
Perth, Waterloo, Wellington, Bruce,
Grey and north and south Simcoe.
Barb Shipley covers high schools in
the counties of Middlesex, Essex,
• Kent, Lambton, Elgin and Oxford and
parts of Haldimand and Brant while
Dean of Student Services Don Orth is
responsible for a number of schools
in the Hamilton and Toronto areas.
Two special days are planned for
visits by prospective students and On-
tario educators in the next six weeks.
Wednesday, February 26 it's
Educators Day when teachers and
guidance counsellors from a number
of high schools will be on campus to
talk to staff and look over all of the
facilities.
On Wednesday, March 19 it will be
4-H College Experience Day when 4-H
club members will have an opportuni-
ty to take a look at close range at what
CCAT has to offer.
During the visits by Stenzke and
Shipley, high school students are told
of course specifics, time table
descriptions, job placements and op-
portunities to develop leadership
skills.
A video tape gives a good overview
of campus, courses and graduates
talk about their two year term at Cen-
tralia and how it has prepared them
for the job market.

were 100 percent and in farm business
management close to 70 percent
return to their home farms. Others
find positons in farm related business.
The biggest concerns of prospective
students are initiation and "is Huron
Park close to anything."
Applicants for Animal Health
Technology must have 40 hours of
work experience with a veterinarian
and agriculture business manage-
ment course prospects are required
to have a background in farming.
Food Service Management
students are required to work in their
chosen field during the summer
months between first and second
years.
Ms. Strenzke said "the cost of
courses is a bonus to us as they are
cheaper than at many other post-
secondary school campuses."
The fees for first year students are
$1,800 for agri ulture Business
Management, $2,600 for Food Service
Management and $2,500 for Animal
Health Technology.
Second year costs are AMB $1,900,
FSM $2,000 and AHT $2,300.
While at Centralia, students get
plenty of oppbrtunities to put their
newly acquired theory knowledge in-
to use in a practical way.
Animal Health students spend four
weeks with a veterinarian, ABM
students spend a lot of time with a
number of area project farmers and
FSM students gain practical ex-
perience in hospitals, nursing homes,
hotels and restaurants.
Since Centralia College was
established in 1967 more than 1,750
students have graduated. .
This year's graduation exercises
will be held on Thursday, May 15 with
Ontario Minister of Agriculture Jack
Riddell as the guest speaker.
