Good church reports given at Cromarty By MRS. ROBERT LAING All organizations in Cromarty Presbyterian Church reported a good year at their annual congregational meeting on Sunday evening. Rev. Kenneth Knight presided and opened it with scripture from Romans 5: 1-11, and prayer. Mrs. Robert Laing was elected secretary for the meeting. A moment of silence was ob§erved in memory of the late Calder McKaig and Mrs. Margaret Jones. Reports from the Session, Board of Managers, Trustees, Women's Mis- sionary Society, Marian Ritchie Evening Auxiliary, Ladies Aid, Sun- day School, Cradle Roll Superinten- dent, Cemetery Board, and Cromhenex Board were read and approved. The session report noted that there are 153 members and there was one marriage, two deaths, and three bap- tisms. During the year, four new members were received by profes- sion of faith. A Hibbert township youth group has been organized and is meeting regularly. Church treasurer, Pearl James, reported that total receipts for 1985 were $18,234.47, and expenses $16,165.60. Of the Cromarty allocation of $2,535 for the Knox College Restora- f tion Fund, $1,870 has been sent and it is hoped that the remaining $665. can be raised in 1986. A General Assembly budget allocation of $3,883 was ac- cepted for 1986. In 1985 $2,805 was sent to the budget. It was suggested that the board of managers attempt to find a perma- nent caretaker before returning to volunteers again this year. Library Committee: Mrs. Thos Scott, Mrs. John Templeman; cemetery board: Larry Gardiner, Ivan Norris, Carter Kerslake, John Templeman, Gordon . Laing, John Scott. Board of managers: for three years, Joy Scott, Laird Ruston, Isabel Kerslake, for two years, Gordon Scott, Eldon Allen, Pearl James; for one year, Ronald Miller, Brian Miller, Michael Finlayson. Dashwood men's club meet without speaker By MRS. IRVIN RADER Dashwood Men's Club held their dinner meeting Monday, January 27 with 19 members and two guests pre- sent. A number were unable to attend due to stormy weather. A roast beef dinner was delicious. Constable Sinnamon from Exeter was to speak on drinking and driving but did not arrive due to the storm. He was also supposed to give the men a breathalizer test. A Valentine dance is to be held February 15 with music by Jasper. Tickets are available from any member of the Men's Club. Some members stayed and played cards. News from Clandeboye The Vestry meeting of St. James Church was held Thursday night. Roy Cunningham and Earl Morgan are the Wardens. Lois Noland continued as Secretary -Treasurer for another year. Euchre party Ten tables were'in play at St. James church euchre party, Tuesday evening. High score prize winners were Huldd Hobbs, and Earl Morgan; lone hands, Chas. Hollings, Marg Carter; low score. Marion Noels and Harold Guilfoyle. The next party will he February 11. A number of ladies from Dashwood attended Chalumeau a program of Youth and Music Canada at the United Church, Grand. Bend, Wednesday. Mrs. Arvis Rader, Stratford,. call- ed on Mary Rader last week. David Stormes and Sonia Hayman, Toronto, were guests of Mrs. Alice Tieman (Gramma) Friday. Jack and Maxine Gaiser spent eight days near Tampa, Florida with Jim and Myrtle Poland. The weather was not the best. Jack took pictures of the Challenger as it rose above the trees. Lutheran WML The Lutheran Women Missionary League met Tuesday evening, open- ing with a Hymn, scripture reading and prayer. Mrs. Mellecke had the topic "The Time of Our Lives". Everyone is asked to save I.G.A. tapes, stamps and soup labels. A leadership training seminar is to be held at Kitchener. The 1987 Conven- tion will be held at Wheels Inn, Chatham. Exeter Christmas Bureau still has material and knitting to do. The I,WML pledge was said and the Mites collected. Mrs. Nancy Becker offered prayer. Mrs. Becker and Mrs. Mellecke served lunch. Bill and Rosaline Verends celebrated their 1212th wedding an- niversary Saturday evening attended by relatives and friends. Delmar and Maxine Miller also attended from Dashwood. RRSP TIME IS NOW!
