NOAKES — At South Huron Hospital, Ex-
eter, on Thursday, January 16, 1966, Mrs.
Annie (Richardson) Noakes, of the
Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich, formerly of
121 King Street, Mensal!, in her 88th year.
Beloved wife of the late E. Archibald
Noakes (1976). Dear mother of Leonard of
Hensall, Lloyd of Mt. Brydges, Kenneth of
Hamilton, Mrs. Frances Siemon of Califor-
nia. Mrs. Noakes is predeceased by 1
daughter Helen ( Mrs. Earl McKellar,
1970), 4 brothers and 1 sister. Also surviv-
ing are 26 grandchildren, several great
grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Rested in the Hensall Chapel of Michael P.
O'Connor Funeral Homes, 118 King Street,
Hensall, where the funeral service was
conducted. Reverend Stanley McDonald
officiated. Temporary entombment with
interment later in Exeter Cemetery. As ex-
pressions of sympathy, donations to the
charity of your choice would be ap-

ducted on Friday. January 17 with inter-
ment in Hensall Union Cemetery. As ex-

Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation

CARDS OF THANKS —
I would to thank my family, relatives,
friends and neighbours for cards, visits
and treats, flowers and catls during my
stay in University Hospital and since retur-
ning home. A special thanks to pastor
Schuessler, the Lutheran church women
and the staff of the Canada Trust. Also a
special thank you to Richard, Elsbeth and
family for their help and support on the
farm. Your thoughtfulness was greatly ap-
preciated and will always be remembered.

Pawtbers beat
Clinton eagers
In junior boys' basketball competi-
tion this week South Huron defeated
Clinton 41-31 in a home game.Fred
Gregus played an excellent game and
was the leading scorer with 13 points.
Rob Pearen followed with 10 points
and Trevor Ratz scored six points.
Scott Regier and Jon O'Connor add-
ed four points each.
The juniors also defeated St. Marys
by a score of 53-33. Jon O'Connor play-
ing his best game of the season, was
the leading• scorer with 13 points.
Trevor Ratz scored 12 and Fred
Gregus notched 11 points. Rob
Pearen, Les Bott, Scott Regier and
Trevor Cottrell also played good
games.
In a match against Woodstock
Huron Park, the junior Panthers were
defeated 50-41. Fred Gregus and Rob
Pearen scored 13 points each; Trevor
Ratz had eight.
South Huron was defeated once
more, this time by College Avenue in
a close game. . The final score was
56-47. Fred Gregus and Rob Pearen
both had excellent games, scoring 19
and 14 points respectively.
In senior boys' basketball, South
Huron also defeated Clinton and St.
Marys with scores of 52-44 and 74-63.
In the Clinton game, Rob Tait and
Vince Parent were the top scorers.
Mike Clarke and Jeff Maxwell played
good games as well.
Chris Pearen played a remarkable
game against St. Marys. scoring 20
points. Rob Tait and Scott Miller
followed suit with 17 points each.
Friday, South Huron hosted Regina
Mundi College. The seniors defeated
the London team 72-43. Rob Tait and
Vince Parent were the top scorers
with 15 and 13 points respectively.
Chris Pearen scored 10 , Scott Miller
added eight and Mark Lamas had six
points.
SH volleyball
The junior and senior volleyball
teams from South Huron travelled to
Mitchell to compete in a tournament
against Goderich and Norwell. They
were the first league games of the
season.
The juniors defeated both teams;
two games against each school. Much
of the same is expected in future play.
The seniors won three out of four
games. The girls defeated Norwell in
two games and split with Goderich.
The final game against Goderich was
won much due to Kendra Arthur's
serves and Irene Brand's effective
spiking. Again the seniors are ex-
pected to do reasonably well in con-
ference play.
