McCann scored one goal in the first period on a pass from Ian Jean and the other score for the Waxers was shot by Chris McDonald on a pass from McCann who had a five point game. Michael Robb led the Ilderton scorers with a two goal effort. Coun- ting in single fashion were Rob Daniel and Paul Lessard. Christmas. Sunday on home ice at the South Huron Rec Centre, Sean McCann scored three goals in the last two minutes and 13 seconds of the third period to lead the Waxers to a dramatic 5-4 come -from -behind vic- tory over Ilderton. Saturday, the local youngsters edg- ed Huron Park 3-1 after suffering a 10-0 defeat Wednesday at the hands of a major novice team from Stratford. Rob Pearen followed with seven; Trevor Cottrell scored foist.. Scott Regier, Scott Hearn, Trevor Rata and Brent O'Brien each con- tributed to the final score as well/ The senior Panthers also competed against Mitchell. This was a victory for South Huron, the score was 68-24. Rob Tait lead the scoring with a substantial margin of points; he scored 31 points. Chris .Pearen scored 15 and Scott Miller scored 12 points. Mike Clarke, Dave Gratton and Greg O'Toole had good games. The senior team played again at a weekend tournament. Two games were; South Huron won one of them. They played In'tersoll and lost 53-66. Chris Pearen was the leading scorer with 16 points. Scott Miller scored 15 and Rob Tait scored 12. South Huron also played Petrolia and won in a close match; the score was 64-62. Chris Pearen was the top scorer once more with 24 points. Scott Miller and Mike Clarke scored 17 and 13 points respectively. Both the junior and senior girls' volleyball teams at South Huron played the Mitchell teams in exhibi- tion play. The juniors won five con- secutive matches; the seniors split with Mitchell winning two matches. The senior scores were: 11-15; 4-15; 15-3; and 15-8. The first league games will be played at Mitchell, Tuesday January 14. MIDGETS In an exhibition midget category hockey game this week, Exeter scored an 8-4 victory over Wingham. The locals jumped Into a 4-2 first period lead as Terry Zachar fired two successful shots, both on passes from Jen O'Connor and Bill Lessard and Buddy Richardson registered on passes from O'Connor and Tim Moore. In the middle frame, Zachar com- pleted a hat trick performance as he converted a pass from Bryan Quinn, Jon O'Connor hit the Wingham net on passes from mark Morrissey and Terry Zachar and Paul Mellecke tallied with assists going to Darryl McCann and Jim Lewis. The only Exeter goal of the final period came from the stick of Darryl McCann on a pass from Jim Lewis. JUNIOR BELLES The Huron Park Junior Belles won one of three ringette games during the past week. Friday, the Belles downed Exeter by a score of 6-1. Corina Price and Patty Bowerman each scored two goals and singles were added by Jeanette Kaak and Shauna Becker. This game featured excellent play by Huron Park goalie Christina Glan- ville and the forward line of Shauna Becker, Patty Bowerman and Jeanette Kaak. In an earlier 5-4 loss to Exeter, Kathy Gage was a double scorer with one goal each by Tracy Cooper and Jeanette Kaak. The only goal for the Belles in an 8-1 loss to Seaforth was fired by Kari - Lynn Rutten. BELL ATOMS In Western Ontario Athletic Association play Saturday, Hensall recorded a 5-3 victory over the Exeter Bell atoms. Rob Consitt led the Hensall scoring attack with a three goal performance. Shane Pepper and Greg Dalrymple assisted on two of Corisitt's scores and the other came on an unassisted effort. The other Hensall goals were fired by captain Dennis Mount and Greg Dalrymple with assists going to Michael Hayter, David Stephens, Shane Pepper and Rob Consitt. The first Exeter goal was notched Py Brent Southcott on a pass from Jeremy Brock. The latter followed with an unassisted marker and Tim Hoffman completed the Bell scoring on a pass from Scott Parsons.
