Back, left, convener Bob Clay, director Jim Jean, treasurer Frances Kints, past president Al Quinn and director Frank Kints. Front, Shamrock rep Ron Hern, director Bill Farquhar, president Paul Charrette, secretary Sharon Lynn and second vice-president Gary Dolphin. Missing were 1st vice-president Tom McCann and directors Don Heywood, Larry Taylor and Mike Soldon. Came from behind Soccer squirts gain a tie In squirt play. Exeter I travelled to Bryanston looking for their first point of the season. In the first half. Bryanston took the play away from Exeter and built up a 3-0 half-time lead. In the second half, it was a different game with Jeremy Truemner and David Farquhar leading Exeter with a lot of hustle and setting up good scoring chances. Jeremy Truemner and Brent Gibson scored for Exeter and with :30 seconds logo Darryl Hart- man tied the score to complete a good come -from -behind effort. On their home field. Exeter 11 put forth and excellent all-round effort to defeat Nairn 11 2-1. Chris McDonald scored both goals. Great play by goalie Bryce Hann and Billy Parker helped the Exeter cause. In their third game of the season, Exeter III travelled to Arva and recorded a 6-0 victory. Marty DeBruyn led in the scoring depart- ment with a five goal effort. Scoring in single fashion was Julia Brand. Turning in top defensive efforts were Brian McAllister and Chad Webster. In atom play, Exeter I and III clashed at the high school and a clash it was. Det•ek Beckett counted for Ex- eter I and Sivil ay Sengkhounmany replied for Exeter I in a 1-1 tie. Jamie Van Dam and Chris Vilos each scored a goal as Exeter II atoms downed Arva 2-0 for their first win of the season. In mosquito play, Exeter I was on the short end of a 4-1 score against Crediton slo-pitch W L Cowboys 8 0 Marauders 8 1 Twins 7 2 JMR 5. 2 Royals 4 5 Tigers 3 5 Bears 3 7 Glanvilles 3 7 Glavins 2 6 Kinsmen 1 9 Nairn. The Exeter team had many opportunities but were stopped time after time by the Nairn goalie. Exeter II mosquitoes travelled to Grand Bend to meet the resort's unbeaten club and came up a little short losing 6-5. Notching single goals were Marty DeBruyn, Jason Hern. Jason Coolman, Sisavay Sengkhoun- many and Sivilay Sengkhounmany. In pee wee action, Exeter I lost by a 4-1 score to a strong Ilderton squad. It was a very frustrating defeat for coach Rich Helm with his team enjoy- ing most of the first halt ddvantages. but. couldn't score. The Ione goal for; Exeter came from the foot of Chris Eccles. Times -Advocate, June 19, 1985 Page 3A Canoe races prove successful More than 40 canoes and kayaks participated in Sunday's Ausable River marathon sponsored by the Grand Bend Chamber of Commerce and the Ausable-Bayfield Conserva- tion Authority. The senior men's event covering a distance of 16 miles was won by Ted Cowan of Brussels and Will .Ruch of Muskoka in a time of one hour and 59 minutes. Dawn Williams of Port Elgin and Rene Boogemans, Hensall were three minutes back in second place while Dick Kloss, Brucefield and Don Stoneman, Toronto were third in two hours and four rninutes. In senior kayak, also over 16 miles. Terry Chappell of Bramalea was home first in an even two hours. Next came Ken Moore, Windsor and Don Wills. Caledonia. The senior mixed event of eight miles was won by Pat Meloche and Yvonne Soulliere of Windsor in one hour and seven minutes. They were followed by Bill and Eris Macintosh and Gary and Elenore Hawkins, all from Chatham. Peter Buwalda and Shawn -Parkin- son of Denfield were home first in the five miles bantam division in 39 minutes. Next were Tammy Moore and Mike Lewies of Windsor and Kelli Rathwell and Terri Anne Kerr. Brucefield. In the junior ladies, Dana Kloss and Kini Rathwell of Brucefield handled the eight mile course in one hour and six minutes. Then came Barbara Hawkins. Chatham and Raquel Bunn, Brucefield and Gayle Boogemans. Hensall and Marion Rueger, Brucefield. The junior men's winners were Sean Sawyer and Jeff Green, Wind- sor followed by Tricia Hawkins.and Randy Havens. Chatham. In cruising, Walter and Glenn Bingo Bongo Members of the ladies club at the Exeter Golf and Country club enjoyed a game of Bingo Bongo this week. Winners were Dorothy Kipfer, Marg Lovell and Jean Smith while Betty Smith, Helen Wasnidge and Dorothy Marks were second high.
