Council approved the sign permits
as proposed by Councillor Doreen
Seguin for the following new
businesses: Beach Emporium. Pop
Corn 'n' Candy Place. Peek Imide.
and Maggies Trash 'n' Treasures.
Seguin showed concern over the im-
proper sale of beach items from the
street. She said that a vendor unload-
ed his stationwagon and proceeded to
set up business in front of a local
store. She was advised to speak to the
store owner about this unlawful situa-
tion to prevent any further action.
Green was advised to speak with
the Harbour Committee regarding
the use of the Village docks. It seems
that there are numerous boats lelt
(here from -the recent boat show and
no docking fees have been paid.
Green commented that the owner has
refused to pay the usual fee.
All council members were present
at the bimonthly meeting in the
Grand Bend municipal chambers.
Monday
The first delegation was Scott Bap-
tist. Exeter. with a proposal for a
photo service on the beach and strip.
Deputy -reeve Harold Green spoke
up showing strong opposition to this
venture. Ile said that council had
given permission to Romantic Photo
Encore al the last meeting. Ile telt
that as a rule council gave no con-
sideration to duplications. as was the
case for volleyball on the beach and
jet skis.
The other members voted in lavor
of Baptist, stressing that no
favoritism was allowed. The part-
time superrn.irrket employee and stu-
dent was granted permission to pro-
ceed with his photographic proposal
this summer. lie was advised that
there would be a $Httt.(x) hawkers and
pedlar's fee.
Brice Helm. head lifeguard. ap-
proached council to finalize his beach
and bathouse plans tor '85. itis re-
quest for an extra lifeguard on the
north main beach was granted. Helm
was advised to use the south beach
patrol for his extra help. as it was.
pointed out to I (din that there was no
Councillor Dennis Snider thought
that the cash -in -lieu of parking fee for
the new Mainstreet Restaurant was
too steep. Ile said that the owners
were planning to convert the cabin
area behind into parking spaces if
needed but had postponed it for now.
Reeve Bob Sharen added that a
detailed site plan would be needed at
the next planning advisory conunit-
tee sleeting. From a plan the proper

An incident regarding dockage
rights has been settled for a village
resident. Katherine Vincent. with a

Council approved a policy regar-
ding their waste disposal site. A $5.00
permit will be re(Iuired per pickup
load. and $IO.011 per large truck load.

was set for contractors' permit for
one year. No keys will be given out for
the site. All garbage must be from

and Syd Fletcher were the sandcastle judges for the Grand Bend Public School students at the main
beach lost Friday afternoon. Winning builders were left to right Jackie Van de Ven, John Beemer, Man-

CTC store plans change

previously announced, but there's
been a change in the management.
The resort facility will be operated
by the Exeter ("I'(' outlet. and 1101111V
Forest store as originally planned clue

Exeter store operator Jerry Walker
said the (rand Bend outlet will he
housed in a facility at Dale Ilavler's
Esso garage on Highway 21. About
1.5011 square feet of retail space will

Council planned to change one of
their parking by-laws made for 81
Crescent. This will accomtnodate one
oI the taxpayers who is living along
the west side of 81 Cres. By-law en-
forcement officer, Keith Crawford..
was advised not to give out any park-
ing tickets for that area until the no
parking signs can be removed.

Swimming program
set for youngsters
Ata. recent meeting of the Ren
Committee, Linda Anderson, Grand
Bend swim program chairman, gave
a presentation for the '85 season.
She reported that there- are 56
children with four supervisors. it will
run the first three weeks in July.
beginning July 1 and ending July 19.
A bus will leave daily from the Grand
Bend Legion at 12:20, and then return
from Exeter at 2:30.
This swim program is sponsored by
the Lioness. Optimist, Southcott
P.Y.A., and the Village of Grand
Bend. As of May 28, Anderson pointed
out that all the classes are full.
Two girls were hired for the Busy
Bee children's day school ( located
behind the O.P.Y. station). Kristyn
Darling, and Suzanne Finkbeiner will
be attending a Playground Training
Workshop on June 20 and 21 in Sarnia.
It was decided that Bruce Woodley
and Nan F'reele would look after plac-
ing the new playground equipment.
Village foreman, .Jack Stanlake will
assemble it. The recreation Com 1111
tee is still looking for new members

Due to the cool weather on June 5.
the Grand Bend Golden Age club held
their picnic at the St.John's Parish
Hall.
Twenty-three members enjoyed a
delicious smorgasbord meal. Follow-
ing their dinner the group in charge
had table games with contests
answered with letters of the alphabet .

EXPLANATORY NOTE
OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT .4'2 AND BY-LAW 6048 of 1983
The purpose of By-law 6048 is to implement the Amendment
No. 2 10 the Official Plan for the Grand Bend Planning Area.
Amendment .42 removed the "Environmental Protection"
designation of the Official Plan from many properties which,
according to an engineering study prepared for the Ausable-
Bayfield Conservation Authority, are no longer located in the
floodplain. These properties were redesignated to other land
uses. In one case, a properly was added to the lloodplo' by
the engineering study and accordingly, Amendmerli #'2
redesignated it to "Environmental Protection:'. This By-law im-
plements -Amendment No. 2 by rezoning the affected proper-
ties in accordance with the new land use designolions of
Amendment No. 2.
This By-law generally applies to land abutting the Ausable River
and Lake Huron in the village of Grand Bend. The Location Map
and Schedule "A" shows more particularly the land affected.
By-law 6048 of 1983 conforms to the Official Plan of the Grand
Bend Planning Area, in accordance with Amendment No. 2.
