Mr. and Mrs. Joe Manders are the new owners. Clandeboye United Church Women held their final meeting on Thursday evening in the form of an "Apprecia- tion Dinner" when twenty ladies sat down to a delicious hot'roast turkey dinner, at Heywood's Family Restaurant. Following the dinner a short meeting was held with Jean Brown giving an interesting message. com- paring our lives with palm trees. Business included lunch plans for the church closing. Donations for "Com- passion" were received. Pictures of the group were taken for the church history. Door prizes were woh by Beth Neil and Jean Hodgins. A community bridal shower was held on Wednesday evening at St. James church to honour Marilyn Groenewegen, whose marriage to Michael Scott takes place July 6. Bar- bara Carter was M.C. for the evening and contests were conducted by Jeanine Vanneste and Jean Hodgins. A beautiful brass hoop lamp was presented to;Marilyn from the com- munity. She received- other lovely gifts as well. Marilyn thanked everyone and invited all to their "Open Reception":. Others assisting with the shower in- cluded Helen Koricina, Gladys Cun- ningham, Gwen and Irene Lynn, Olive Simpson, Elsie Lewis, Hazel and Ruth Hill. Cunningham Mrs. Agnes Hornell disposed of her Woodham By MISS JEAN COPELAND Members of the Rannoch Score with Safety 4-H club met at the home of Dollie Melos. Members enjoyed a pot luck supper before attending Achievement Night at Mitchell. May 22. Lisa Milos presented a speech on her assistant leaders project. Members in attendance were leaders Dottie Milos and Beverley Haynes, president Lisa Milos, vice-president Tammy Richardson, secretary Anita Broers, Vicky Brvan, Gordon Black. Cheri Spence, Katie Cade and Ellen Mahaffy. Congratulations to Gordon Black on receiving her sixth club award. The next 4-H club will be Basic Bake. Members will learn how to bake pies, cakes and etc. from scratch. Any person male or female in- terested in this or any club may con- tact Dollie Milos 229-8758 or Beverley Haynes 229-6711. The club will meet again in September. Mrs. Hornell and daughter. Margaret Hettrick, of Kirkland Lake, spent the past week with the Hodgins family before returning home on Sun- day with friends, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Ramsay, who came from the Nor- thern town on the weekend, to attend the graduation of their son, Robert, from Althouse College. at Western University, on Saturday. WILLIAM ROHDE The June meeting of the United Church Women was beld Monday evening in the church basement with some 20 ladies present. Mrs. Lee Webber opened the business part of the meets with a poem. "When Summer Walks" The roll call was answered with "Where 1 Would Like to spend My Vacation." The usual business was dealt with. R was decided to send $250. to the Tor- nado Relief. A skit on Korea was given by Mrs. Lorne Passmore, Mrs. George IFellett.1Mrs. Mac Hodgert, Mrs. Don Richardson, and Mrs. Ar- nold Cann. The theme was "Joyous Service" and Mrs. Richardson gave the Call to Worship. The Scripture Matthew 25:34-40 was read by Mrs. Cann. A reading "The People Who Live On" was read by Mrs. Passmore. Mrs. Hodgert read "Service To Others". Mrs.Richardson gave a reading, Mrs. Cann read "Joy of Ser- vice". Mrs. Kellett gave a reading. A piano selection by Mrs. Bill Rohde, Mrs. Kellett led . in prayer. Mrs. Passmore and Mrs. Richardson • received the offering and prayer by Mrs. Hodgert.. It was the World Outreach Commit- tee that was in charge of the meeting. Group U served a delicious lunch. Bridal Shower About 60 girls and ladies gathered in the church basement on Wednes, day evening to honour Miss Elaine Stewart bride -elect of July. Miss Agnes Bray played God Bless the Day i met You and Mrs. Walter Kunicki escorted Elaine to a decorated chair. Mrs. Gordon McCarter welcomed everyone and was the chairlady for the program, which consisted of a humorous reading by Mrs. Floyd Stewart. A skit entitled "Licenses" was played by Mrs. Ted Kernick and Mrs. Glen Lamport. A humorous song with Mrs. Bev Alexander. Mrs. Glen Stewart. Mrs. Floyd Stewart. Mrs. Walter Kunicki, Mrs. Glen Lamport. Mrs. Ted Ker - nick and Mrs. McCarter singing and acting and their dress was quite dif- ferent. Miss Agnes Bray accom- panied them on the piano. Mrs Alexander read a nicely word- ed address and Lisa and Lori Kernick and Kerry Manders pulled in a decorated wagon filled with many useful and beautiful gifts. A delicious lunch was then partaken of which brought an enjoyable evening to a close Church Service • The Sunday church service com- nienc•c+ti downstairs with the singing of the children's hymn "Let There Be light" Mrs. David Passmore show- ed a film strip "Living and Risking- - Our lleritage and Our Future". Rev Robert Matheson told the children a story entitled "Why The Light Needs to be Shared." The con- gregation then retired to the auditorium for the remainder of the service which was the special celebration of the sixtieth anniver- sary of the l'nited Church of Canada. The choir sang The ('hunch By the Side of the Road accompanied by the organist Miss Agnes Bray. The scripture lesson was taken from 1 Samuel 16:1-13, ii Corinthians 4 :, 12, Mark 2:23-3:6. The Commu- num Meditation was entitled "Rebirth Comes in More Than One Type of Packaging.. Rev. Robert Matheson was m charge of the Communion Service at which the elders served communion. The Sunday School anniversary will he held next Sunday. June 16 at 11 a m. There will be no Sunday School. Personals Several ladies from this communi- ty were at the Open house at the future home of Miss Karen Cottle. Saturday Mr and Mrs. Roy Pepper. Exeter were Saturday supper guests with Mr and Mrs. William Rohde. Mrs. Ken Brazier.
