VAMPIRE DAY --- These South Huron and District High School students gave blood to the Red Cross
and moral support to each other at the blood donor clinic on Wednesday. From left: Patti Cleve, Kim
Watson, Kim Prance, and Allyson Shephard.
Orem 250 pints of blood
Another very successful Red Cross
blood Donor clinic is over and 284
donors took time to give their gift of
life. With 30 deferrals. a total of 254
units (pints) of blood were donated.
Without the donors our clinics would
not be the success they have been and
hope they continue to be.
Our quota was 250, thus the Ausable
River Nomads and the Red Cross
were pleased with the excellent
turnout.
Every day we hear of the increas-
ed demand for blood but Exeter and
area donors helped do their part.
We again had many first time
donors also the high school students
really helped push our total up. We
hope they continue•to take time and •
give their donations.
• We have another clinic in October
so are hoping to continue to have our
excellent turnouts..

"We do not disagree with the need
for a 500kV power line out of- the
Bruce Nuclear Development", said
Ken - McGregor. vice chairman of
Foodland Hydro. "The issue is where
the line should be located."
:`Contrary to some media coverage,
Foodland Hydro has not delayed the
building of a transmission line. The
delay was caused by those along the
M3 route, who sought to set the deci-
sion of the hearing board aside."
"We agree with the Porter Royal
Commission that recommended in
1979,.after four years of hearings, that
only one more 500kV line is needed out
of the Bruce. It also recommended
avoiding agricultural impacts even if
there are cost penalties."
McGregor went on to say, "This
position was confirmed by the Con-
solidated Hearing Board three years
later in 1982. Thier recommendation
was the modified M3 route from
Bruce to Barrie and on to London via
Milton. This route was found to have
the least impact on valuable
foodland."
McGregor is a member of
Foodland-Hydro, a broadly based
group of landowners and other con-
cerned citizens from Bruce. Iluron
and Middlesex Counties. opposing a
hydro corridor travelling south from
Bruce to London, through much of the
best agricultural land in the province.

CORRECTION
In a story in last week's issue, it
was indicated that Tuckersmith
Reeve Bob Bell was in favor of pay-
ing off Stuart Keyes rather than go to
a county expropriation plan.
While agreeing it may be cheaper
to pay off Mr. Keyes, Reeve Bell did
not suggest that such action should be
taken.

AND AREA
The annual Work Experience Week Program at South
Huron District High School has had another successful
conclusion. The area firms who support such Youth
Career Education Programs contribute in a very
special and most significant way in the development
of our young people. Such firms should be recogniz-
ed and the public made aware of the important con-
tribution these firms make to the school and to our
young people in particular. No monetary awards are
given to these firms for their service to the school.
The satisfaction they receive is that of a volunteer;
no arms are twisted and in fact, a number of business
people actually call the school and offer their
assistance, regarding our Work Experience Program.
We appreciate the fact that in some instances the
students make extra work for the staff of the host
companies, and yet the same people offer their help
year after year, as good corporate citizens. The
Business Teachers and Technological Studies
Teachers consider the Work Experience Week Pro-
gram.o very important part of the students' educa-
tion. The program gives the students the opportuni-
ty to experience the world of work in careers which
they plan to persue upon graduation. We would like
to express our appreciation to the following area
firms for their active participation and their interest
in our youth:
