Scooting program busy at Cromarty; dances popular

meetings to instruct the boys in first
aid to help them with their first
alder's badge.
Since there did not seem to be
enough interest, it was decided not to
take a bus trip to the Canadian Cam-
poree in Guelph in July.
There was an excellent response to
the bottle drive in April and the
organization appreciates the support
of the community.
Dance Popular
There was a good turnout for the
old-tyme dance in Staffa on Friday
evening. The dances have been held
on the second Friday night of the
month since about 1973, but will be

Scout group committee at the home
of the chairman, Bill Mahon.
Twyla Waddell reported that the
Beavers had been very interested in
the baby turkeys brought to one of
their meetings by their leader,
Margaret Schrader. The committee
decided to pay the Beaveree and
('uboree registration tees and to pay
the Wildwood parking fee for the
Beaver drivers.
The Cubs had a very successful tour
of Seaforth hospital, guided by Mrs.

W.M.S. Meet
Mrs. Thos. Scott was hostess for the
May meeting of Cromarty W.M.S.
The president, Mrs. Charles Douglas
opened the meeting with a poem,
Miracle of Spring.
The devotions, led by Mrs. Scott,
were based on the theme,let your light
shine. The light of Christ must first be
in our hearts before we can let it shine
for others. The light is for all people.
For her topic, Mrs. James Miller
read two brief articles Why Did God
Create Mothers? and Have a Good
Day.
Mrs. Ben Stoneman led the study on
human rights in Korea. Korean Chris-

master of ceremonies. Solos were
sung .by Lois Wilson and Shawn
McCurdy. Ruth Ann Essery and Kel-
ly' Hern played a piano duet. Readings
were given by Verda Lightfoot and
Iva Blair. Duets were sung by Judy
Mills and Faye Skinner and Kurt and
Brent Mills. Penny Smith was at the
piano accompanied by her father
Harvey on the guitar. Sam Skinner
and Bob Blair entertained also. A skit
was performed by Donna Smith and
June Essery. The May lunch commit-
tee served refreshments.
Personals
The Centralia United Church Sun-
day School Anniversary is June 2 at
11 a.m. with Jack Burghart of London
as guest speaker. Social hour is to
follow.
Mr. Tom Kooy attended the 134th
session of Synod of the Diocese of
Huron of the Anglican church at
Althouse College, London on Monday.
Tom is the lay -delegate from St.
Patrick's Church, Saintsbury.
Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Brandon.
Heather and Catherine of Uxbridge.
Mrs. Ron Brittain, Jeremy and
Megan of Richmond Hill spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer
Powe.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bowden were
Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Jaques and family, Zion for a family
dinner in celebration of Monter's Day.
The sympathy of the community is
extended to Mr. and Mrs. Brent
Caslick in the death of Brent's grand-
mother, Mrs. Martin of Walkerton,
formerly of Clifford. She was in her
97th year.

Family Service
Mrs. Alex Miller told the children's
story The Stone on the Hill at the
Christian Family service on Sunday.
The Sunday School superintendent,
Alice Gardiner, presented memory
work diplomas to Becky Martin, for
part 1 Beginners, Christen Miller
and Julie Martyn, part 2 Beginners.
Everyone was invited to a Sunday
school programe on May 26.
