Mark Cronyn of the Winchelsea
Raiders will replace Mike Soldan as
president of the Exeter Men's
Recreational Fastball League.
Cronyn will commence his duties
replacing Soldan who has been presi-
dent for the past three seasons. The
League's first general meeting will be
called in a few short weeks.
Billy Joe Rowcliffe will continue as
secretary -treasurer for the 1985
season. The remaining executive will
be made up of one team represen-
tative from each team that enters the
league.
This season looks very promising
for rec fastballers .,nd the league ex-
pects at least 12 teams to enter.
Slo-pitch a popular sport has had
some influence on the number of
players but the interest in fastball in
this area remains strong.
The Hensall Legionaires, the Ex-
eter Blue Crew and Usborne are all
starting their 12th season in the
league.
There are at least two first class
tournaments planned, the July Blue
Crew tournament and the Usborne-
Winchelsea tournament. The Exeter
Inn entry inay also run a tournament
which is now in the planning stages.
The league is hoping for the return
this season of the Hearn-Walloy
fastball club from Lucan which com-
peted in the 1983 season and opted out
in 1984. Other interested parties
should be planning for entry into the
league and be prepared to state their
intentions at the first meeting which
will be advertised in the Times -
Advocate.
Mike Soldan has been informed that
the league will be sought after to
assist in the procurring of new lights
for diamond one. Last year area
teams joined forces to build portable
outfield fences which were donated to
the community.
