T -A photo Distrjcf reg ball league -ready to go Mark Cronyn of the Winchelsea Raiders will replace Mike Soldan as president of the Exeter Men's Recreational Fastball League. Cronyn will commence his duties replacing Soldan who has been presi- dent for the past three seasons. The League's first general meeting will be called in a few short weeks. Billy Joe Rowcliffe will continue as secretary -treasurer for the 1985 season. The remaining executive will be made up of one team represen- tative from each team that enters the league. This season looks very promising for rec fastballers .,nd the league ex- pects at least 12 teams to enter. Slo-pitch a popular sport has had some influence on the number of players but the interest in fastball in this area remains strong. The Hensall Legionaires, the Ex- eter Blue Crew and Usborne are all starting their 12th season in the league. There are at least two first class tournaments planned, the July Blue Crew tournament and the Usborne- Winchelsea tournament. The Exeter Inn entry inay also run a tournament which is now in the planning stages. The league is hoping for the return this season of the Hearn-Walloy fastball club from Lucan which com- peted in the 1983 season and opted out in 1984. Other interested parties should be planning for entry into the league and be prepared to state their intentions at the first meeting which will be advertised in the Times - Advocate. Mike Soldan has been informed that the league will be sought after to assist in the procurring of new lights for diamond one. Last year area teams joined forces to build portable outfield fences which were donated to the community. South 133 2736 The St. Marys Lincolns and St. Catharines Falcons met last night, Tuesday in the seventh and deciding game in the OHA Junior 'B' quarter- final series. The winner goes on to meet the Waterloo Siskins in the OHA semi- finals. Other teams left in the runn- ing are Streetsville, Barrie, Bramalea and Peterborough. Two valuable members of the Lin- colns are John Kernick of Exeter and Jeff Shipley from Lucan. John is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kernick and Jeff is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Shipley. After 16 playoff games, Kernick led the Lincolns with a plus of 17 and was second in scoring with 17 goals and 17 • assists for 34 points, one back of leader Lonnie Loach. Shipley's point total was 17 made up of 7 goals and 10 assists and hada plus of three. On the way to the quarter -finals the Lincolns eliminated the Sarnia Bees and the London Diamonds.
