Local bantams get even split
The Exeter bantam houseleague
team had a busy weekend, playing
four games - winning two and losing
two.
Friday, the team travelled to Kin-
cardine to take part in the bantam -
midget houseleague tournament and
played two games against teams
from Kincardine, losing the first 5 to
4 and winning the second by the same
score.
In the first game, four players
shared in the scoring, with Henri
Debruyn, Frank Woodward, Jason

day. Winning the Rollie's Cycle and
Sports. of Grand Bend trophy was
Moyra Leiper, Sue Appleyard, Jim

and Frank McDonnell and Emlie and
Lloyd Donahue.
Winning in the consolation division
were Vicky and Fred Parry and Vera
Parker and John Parkinson with
Shirley Lennon, Paul Parsons and
Sue and Rick Turnbull placing
second.

Crunchers lose two
in atom tournament
The Exeter Crunchers were
eliminated in two straight games
Wednesday in a spring break atom
houseleague hockey tournament in
Parkhill.
Despite the pair of losses the locals
turned in excellent efforts and forc-
ed the St. Greens into overtime before
losing 3-2. In their other contest the
Crunchers were edged 2-1 by the
Parkhill Leafs.
Shawn Webster converted a pass
from Jamie Rolph to account for the
only Exeter goal in the Toss to
Parkhill.
Allan McFalls was the scoring hero
against St. Marys. Ile fired two suc-
cessful shots. One came on an
' unassisted effort and the other on a
pass from Jeremy Brock.
PEE WEES WIN CONSOLATION — The Exeter pee wees won the
consolation championship of o Spring Break houseleague tournament
in Mt. Brydges. Bock, left, Giselle Charrette, Tina Smith, Mark D'An-
no, Jeff Burton, John Ellerington and Brett Borden. Centre, Dave
Mack, Craig Soldan, Scott Bishop, Kevin Fick, Glenn Quinn and Craig

Pee wees victorious
in Mt. Brydges event
The Exeter Legion pee wees won
the consolation chatnpionship of the
Town and Country houseleague tour-
nament in Mt. Brydges this week.
After losing 3-0 to Ripley, the locals
roared hack to reverse the procedure
with shutout wins by identical scores
of 2-0 over Dorchester and Mt.
Brydges.
The Exeter wins were featured by
strong goal tending by Scott Russell
and good defensive work by ('raig
Soldan. Mike ('lay, Craig
MacEachern and Jeff Burton.
For the first time in pee wee
hockey in Exeter, girls played on the
team and Tina Sniith and Giselle
('hatrette proved they can handle this
calibre of hockey.

Cowgirls to
start practice
The Crediton Cowgirls are planning
an early start on the 1985 ladies
faslball season.
The club is staging the first tryout
session Wednesday night, March 27 at
7 p.m. at the Huron Park Recreation
hall.
A number of spots on the team are
open as some of the last year's
players are taking a year off to ensure
the club has plenty of playing person-
nel in about 16 years.
Newcomers will be welcomed to the
first practice and are asked to tiring
their gloves For more information

left in sudden -death overtime to win
the game. yy
In the second ghme. Henri
DeBruyn led the way with two goals,
while Scott Wedlake, David
Josephson and Jeff Rowe each scored
one. David Josephson picked up
assists on three of the goals, with
Peter Lerikos and Henri DeBruyn
each getting two.
Jeff Playfoot and Laurie Chalmers
assisted on Jeff Rowe's goal, which
came with 12 seconds left in the over-
time period.
The team travelled back to Kincar-
dine, Sunday for the consolation
finals, but with five players missing
and with two suffering the after af-
fects of the flu, the team was no
match for Hensall. The final score
was 5-0 for Hensall.
In the last scheduled league game,
Saturday, Exeter defeated a team
from Lucan 10-1. Henri DeBruyn led
the way with six points. scoring tour
goals and getting two assists.
David Josephson picked up five
points on two goals and three assists.
Jason McFalls and Frank Woodward
each scored two goals and assisted on
one goal.
Jeff Rowe assisted on three goals
while Mike Conlan, Scott Wedlake
and Brent McDonald each assisted on
two. Picking up single assists were
Jeff Playfoot and Peter Lerikos.
Pat O'Sullivan scored the only
Lucan goal, midway through the final
period, with Pete Bakker assisting.
