Mohawks battle back
A sudden -death game tonight!
That's what the Western Ontario
Athletic Association Intermediate
"A" semi-finals between the Exeter
Mohawks and Teeswater Falcons has
boiled down to.
The Mohawks and Falcons will
meet at the South Huron Rec Centre
tonight, Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in the
seventh and deciding contest to
decide which club will meet Woodford
for the WOAA grand championship.
The Mohawks falling behind two
games to one were able to win 9-5
Tuesday to square the series. Again
on Exeter ice Friday night,
Teeswater scored a 7-6 overtime win
to put the Mohawks behind the eight
ball.
They came through Sunday after-
noon in their patent come -from -
behind style to beat the Falcons by a
score of 6-4.
With less than seven minutes to go
in the third period of Sunday's game,
the Mohawks struck for three straight
goals and a victory to keep their
playoff hopes alive.
At 13:08 captain Randy Kraul tied
the score on an unassisted effort and
two minutes later Mark Cronyn fired
what proved to be the winning goal as
he converted a pass from Brian
Mercer as the Mohawks were playing
a man short.
Jamie Caldwell notched an in-
surance counter only 40 seconds later
on passes from Jim Guenther and
Bryan Baker.
In the first period, Baker fired the
first Exeter score on a three-way
passing combination with Guenther
and Terry Caldwell.
Pete Tuckey tallied the second
Mohawks score in the second period
on a play started by Ken Varley and
Randy Kraut. Early in the final
period, Biran Mercer scored on a pass
from Mark Cronyn.
Clint Petteplace, Dan Davidson,
John Kelly and Steve Zettler were the
Teeswater goal getters.
The referee in Sunday's game was

Gary Gravett and one of the linesmen
was John Gravett. They are from
Hanover and sons of former Exeter
residents Don and Mary Gravett.
Lose in Overtime
Captain Kent Cerson's third
straight goal at 10:38 of overtime
gave Teeswater Friday's 7-6 victory.
Cerson's first two goals came at
12:27 and 12:42 of the third period to
send the game into the extra session.
Teeswater took a 4-3 first period
lead on goals by Clint Petteplace, Dan
Davidson Dwight Leslie and John
Kelly. Pete Tuckey shot the first Ex-
eter goal on passes from Randy Kraut
and Ken Verley and Terry Caldwell
followed with two quick scores near
the 16 minute mark. Randy Kraut and
Barry Baynham assisted on both.
Terry Caldwell was again the scor-
ing star of the middle frame with two
successful shots in the first three
minutes. Assisting this time were
Bryan Baker, Barry Baynham and
Brian Mercer.
Mark Cronyn notched the sixth Ex-
eter goal early in the third period and
then Cerson took over and won the
game for the Falcons.
Score in Spurts
.In day's fourth game, the
Mohawks scored four straight..goals
in the first period and followed with
a five goal splurge late in the second
session and early in the third.
After Dann -Davidson scored for the
Falcons at 6:27 of the opening session,
Terry Caldwell converted a pass from
Dave Kinsman and the Mohawks
were away.
Before the first 20 minutes ended,
Barry Baynham completed a three-
way effort with Brian Mercer and
Pete Tuckey and Jamie Caldwell
blinked the,goal light on two occasions
in less than two minutes. Jim Guen-
ther, Terry Caldwell, Bryan Baker
and Dave Kinsman.
John Kelly and Dan Davidson
scored for Teeswater early in the se-
cond period to cut the Mohawks lead
to a sin le oal.
At this point the home team again
caught fire and hit for five
unanswered scores.
Terry Caldwell was a double scorer
with Jamie Caldwell, Brian Mercer
and Jim Guenther assisting. Dave
Kinsman converted a pass from
Guenther, Jamie Caldwell registered
on a pass from Bryan Baker and
Brian Mercer finished off a neat pass-
ing effort with Ken Varley and Pete
Tuckey.
The final Teeswater goals were not-
ched by Dan Davidson and John
Kelly.

Tough defeat
for bantams
The Exeter bantams were
eliminated by Walkerton Wednesday
in a tournament in Ilarriston, hut,
they put up a terrific battle.
The locals scored two goals in the
last 52 seconds cf the third period to
tie the score at 6.6 and then last by two
goals in a shoolout
In earlier games. Exeter dropped
a 3-2 decision to Hanover and plank-
ed Lucan 9-0.
In the Toss to Walkerton, captain
Jon O'Connor and Jeff Ilannah scored
in the dying moments on passes from
Jeff Chipthase and O'Connor to send
the game the extra play.
In the first period. Doug (lark not-
ched a pair of Exeter scores on iden-
tical passing plays with Jeff Dalrym-
ple and Jeff ('hipchase and O'('onnor
converted a pass from Shawn Guillet
The other Exeter score came in the
second period from the stick of Mark
Coward on passes from Steve Ander-
son and Jon O'Connor
Against Lucan. Jon O'('onnor and
Doug Clark were double scorers with
singles going to Jeff ('hipchase• Steve
Anderson. Jeff Kints..Jeff Dalrymple
and Shawn Guillet
Doug Clark was the top playmaker
with four assists Scott Bell. Jon
O'Connor and Steve Anderson each
gained two assists while Shawn

for Bogart
A recent season ending Triple
hockey tournament proved very suc-
cessful for Exeter native Dave
Bogart.
Bogart who is taking his Masters
Degree at Ohio University in Athens.
Ohio has been the school - s assistant
hockey coach this winter
In the International intercollegiate
Invitational tourney, Bogart was
named the best defenceman by oppos-
ing coaches and at the windup ban-
quet was named the most valuable
player participating
Taking part in the tourney in addi-
tion to Ohio University were Ohio
State, Huntington College of Sudbury
and Stong College of Toronto. an af-
filiate of York University
In two games Ohio and Stong Col-
lege traded victories by identical 6-3
scores One of the stars of the Siong
club was Mike McAuley. son of Mr.
.and Mrs. Terry McAuley, formerly of
Exeter and brother of ex -London
