Queensway news
"May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your
back". Top o' the morning to you all
from Queensway. Our Bingo games
were held on Monday afternoon. Our
volunteers from Hensall United
Church, Unit 3, were Dorothy Parker.
Mary Brintnell, Sarah Dick, Helen
Roberts, Dorothy Brintnell, Freda
Boa, and Marg Cole.
Rev. Rooert Matheson, from
Thames Road. led our worship ser-
vice on Tuesday afternoon. Assisting
him was Rhoda Rhode.
Tuesday evening the Christian
Reformed Singers came in to enter-
tain us. They sang, our favourite
hymns.
e Ceramic Club met on Wednes-
day morning. Our ceramic experts
this week were Lil Baker and Judy
Parker.
On Thursday evening we matched
a movie entitled "Switzerland". It
was informative and beautiful all at
the same time.
We celebrated St. Patrick's Day on
Friday afternoon. George Mathonia,
Ivan Norris and Jim Young played at
our St. Patrick's Day Coffee House.
They were terrific! Shamrock Juice
abounded. Several of the ladies had
made thimble cookies and carrot
cake on Wednesday afternoon. They
were delicious.
-Over the weekend we carefully
counted the number of Shamrocks on
the nursing home floor. Those of us
who correctly counted the number of
Shamrocks won a prize. The winners
names will be announced in next
week's edition of Queensway News.

UC plans Easter sunrise service
Donald Stebbins greeting the con-
gregation at the United Church on
Sunday morning with Fred Elder,
Cecil Pepper, Ross Sararas and Mer-
vyn Fields as ushers. Mr. McDonald
continued his series on the Unwitting
Winesses and spoke of Christ our
Liberator referring to the Gospel of
Mark 2 and the story of Jesus heating
on the Sabbath. The choir sang the
very beautiful "No Turning Back"
from the traditional melody with ar-
rangements by Robert Hughs. The
children's story was "The meaning of
the Shamrock" as Mr. McDonald
spoke on the Holy Trinity. Everyone
was reminded toget their tickets for
the Barbecue on April 12 as there are
already many tickets sold.
The Fellowship Hall of the United
Church was filled on Sunday evening
for the monthly Fellowship Night. Ian
and Shirley McAllister were special
guests and showed their slides and
gave a commentary on their trip to
Austria, Switzerland and Italy. The
meeting opened with a sing song with
Joyce Pepper at the piano, and then
Mr. McDonald read about "Friend-
ship" from the book The Prophet.
Following the meeting lunch was
served by the Communications Com-
mittee with Joanne Rowcliffe as
chairperson.
The Official Board of the United
Church met on Thursday evening and
among other business the worship
committee brought a report of the
Maunday Thursday service to be held
on Thurs., April 4 at 7:30 p.m. and the
Easter Sunrise Service and breakfast
on Easter Sunday, Spril 7. The,
members were reminded that next
month they would be forming their
committee for the 100th Anniversary
of the Church, taking place in 1986.
Carmel Presbyterian
Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted
worship at Carmel Presbyterian
Church on Sunday. His sermon was
entitled`Genuine Worship". Dorothy
Taylor presided at the organ for the
service of song.
Unit II
The U.C.W. meeting of Unit 2, Hen-
sall United Church was held on Mon-
day March 11 with Grace Drummond
presiding opening with a reading
"The Legend of the Blarney Stone".
Thirteen members answered roll call.
Helen Drysdale gave the topic on
Korea and the reason why we should
study it. Mona Alderdice conducted
the business and the next meeting for
Unit II will be Airil 1. Dianne
of the last meeting were read and ap-
proved. Grace Drummond reviewed
the next meeting and thanked
everyone who helped and closed with
prayer. A Bible Contest followed after
which Deanne Brock and Helen
MacLean served a delicious lunch.
Carmel PCW
The P.C.W. of Carmel Presbyerian
Church met at the home of Mrs.
Elizabeth Faber on Monday with
Mattie McGregor and Eleanor
Thompson in charge. It was a show
and tell meeting, showing crafts etc.

Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Blackwell at-
tended the funeral of their aunt Mrs.
Victor Sweet of St. Catharines, March
12 at the Harper Funeral Home in
Watford. The Interment was in
Alvinston Cemetery. Refreshments

Skating show
on Saturday
One of the rising young stars in
figure skating will be among the guest
performers at the show planned by
the Hensall Figure Skating Club at the
community centre this Saturday.
Claudine Putt. 12 -year-old member
of the Kitchener Figure Skating Club
will be a solo performer. She topped
her own club competition this year,
was second in the re;ionals third in

Bantams win 'B' championship
The Hensall Bantams spent the
weekend in Kincardine zit a
Houseleague Hockey Tournament
and came home with the "B" ('ham-
pionship. The boys first game at to -30
Saturday morning was against one
of the host teams. Action was hot and
heavy with ilensall domineering the
final two minutes only to have Kincar-
dine hold on to their 2-1 lead. Brian
Moir assisted Chris Campbell was
Iensall's only marksman. This put
Hensall into the "B" category. The
boys second game Saturday was
against Walkerton and in order to ad-
vance further it was a must to win.
ilensall showed determination and
spirit as they out played Walkerton
and were able to record their shut out
of the weekend as they trounced
Walkerton 5-0. Hensall's marksmen
were Shawn Vanstone. Chris Ingram,
Jim Dickensand Jason [manse -- with
two. With only an hour between
games two and three the boys didn't
have time to cool off or slow down as
they met another Kincardine team in
their next step towards the Cham

one goal of tying up the game when
they pulled their goalie and Rob
Taylor popped a goal into the open net
to give Hensall a 4-2 win. To advance
them to the Championship Sunday
other Hensall scorers were Brian
Moir, Chris Ingram and Jim Dickins
Exeter who had played Friday and
got a bye to the final round, showed
up for the Sunday Championship and
were surprised to find it was their
rivals that they faced.
Hensall's boys were fired up and
determined to send Exeter home as
runners up. Both defence and offence
for Hensall played a strong game as
they outskated and out played Exeter
Rob Wareing recorded his second
shut out of the weekend as Hensall
won 5-0
Brian Moir was Hensall's top
marksman with three goals and two
assists. Jim Dickins followed with two
goals and two assists. Shawn
Vanstone and Chris Campbell also
recorded assists. During the Cham-
pionship game the coaches antj
players for Hensall showed their team
spirit as they cheered on from the
bench and almost out weighed the
fans. "Congratulations boys. we're
proud of you." The final champion-
ship for the regular Huron Perth
Houseleague will be held next
weekend with Hensall's first game at
9:30 Friday night March 22 at Clinton.

way at 8:00 p.m. Admission for adults
is $2.50 and for children $1.00.
