Stormy weather causes Lucan area accidents
Officers of the Lucan detachment of
the Ontario Provincial Police were
kept busy Tuesday, March 4 in-
vestigating nine accidents caused by
extreme winter weather. The first
and the most serious occurred at 1:05
p.m. on Highway 4 involving five
vehicles during whiteout conditions.
Drivers involved were Theo Vanden-
Breekel, London; Lester Heywood,
Exeter; Randy Quesnel. Lucan and
Mary Dyson and James (bates. both
of London. Constable Hodge set
damages at $t LOW. No one was
injured.
Only 25 minutes later, vehicles
driven by Richard Hall. Granton and
James Hanlon. Denfield collided on
Cameron sideroad. ('onstable Wilcox
listed damages at $4,500.
At 1:40 p.ni. on Highway 4, whiteout
drifts caused vehicles driven by Roy
Van Kasteren. RR 2, Lucan and
James Kipp. London to collide.
Damages were set at $1.000 by ('on -
stable Risher.
1'ehicles driven by Alec Gallineer.
St_ .tar•ys and Robert Roney, Thorn -
dale collided on Concession 5 at the
same time ('onstable Holland
estimated damages at $2,000.
Holland was at the same scene 30
minutes later as a vehicle driven by
Charles Tabor, Thorndale struck the
cle driven by Scott Kerr, Ingersoll
struck the rear of a vehicle driven by
Mary Maxwell, London. Constable
Wilcox set damages at $1,200.
Vehicles driven by James Riddell
and Alice Pinnell, both of Granton col-
lided on Middlesex road 23 at 4:50
p.m. Corporal Munro listed damages
at $4,500.
At 4:25 p.m.. a vehicle driven by
Judith Lawson. RR 3. Granton left the
roadway of Middlesex road 23 and hit
the ditch. Constable !lodge estimated
damages at $700
Six tables of euchre at Shipka

Winners at the euchre game held
Wednesday night at the Community
Centre were: ladies high. A Idene
Wolfe. Dashwood: ladies low, Noreen
McCann. Mount Carmel: men's high.
Fred Gibson, Shipka: men's low, won
by Grace Masse playing a man's
card.
Most lone hands. Roy Swartz.
Exeter.
A prize for having a birthday -
closest. to St. l'artrick's day was won
by Jim Houlahan.
Six tables were in play, with lunch
refreshments served by the far south
group.
Another euchre will be held in two
weeks on March 20.
Personals
Ferman and Leota Synder, accom-
panied by Katie Vincent of Grand
Bend. attended an annual -business
meeting March 2, at the German
Church of God in Kitchener. After the
•meeting they spent the weekend in
Elmira at the Snyders' daughters
home. Suzanne and Otto Plein and the
grandchildren Christopher and
Melissa.
Bill Maier. Mio Michaigan, George
Maier and Walter Schmidt, Farm-
ington area of Detroit. visited a cou-
ple days last week with their Morenz
cousins here, as well as other area
relatives and friends.
Harold and Doreen Finkbeiner
have returned home after a six week
holiday in the Pompano area of.
Florida.
Bob and Diane Finkbeiner return-
ed recently from a week's holidays in
the Bahamas.
Hugh and 1 visited Saturday after-
noon with his sister. Mrs. Hazel Cor-
bett. in llensall, and along with other
relatives helped to celebrate Hazel's
birthday.

$4,000 when vehicles driven by Adrian
Wydeven and Robert Sustarsic, both
of London collided on Adelaide street
at 5 p.m.. Wednesday.
