CWL pancake supper meetin The C.W.L. meeting began with a pancake supper Tuesday February 19. Thirty-one members and one visitor were present, including Father Mooney. The president thanked members Bridget Grant and Joan Regier for their volunteer services as 4-H leaders started on February 26. March 22 Day of Recollection will be held at Medcatte House in London; 16 ladies plan to attend. Don't forget to attend our parish' dance _March 16 at the Community Centre in Zurich with "Mozart and the Melody Makers" providing entertain- ment for the evening. $8.00 per couple. Proceeds of $32. from the pancake supper plus the door prize money from the Lenten meetings will be sent to Development and Peace. Interesting letters were received from our save'ghe family and from Bro. Bob Mittleholtz in India. Our parish is observing Lent with morning weekday Masses as well as Wednesday evening and stations of the cross on Friday nights at 7:30 p.m. as Lent is the time for penitence and sacrifice. The grade 2 children and their parents had a Penitence Celebration at the church on Sunday afternoon, in preparation for their first Holy Com- munion follwed by cake and juice at the school, served by teacher Sister Maureen Shearon. May 7 and 8 are the dates for the Convention to be held in London this year. Two delegates from the league will attend. The bazaar quilt donated by Sister Florian is beautifully completed. The door prize was won by Sister Florian. The Bean Festival quilt will be set up at the home of Marie Gelinas Sr. the week of March 4. (Everyone welcome to come and help quilt). The World Day of Prayer will be held on Friday March 1 at the Zurich United Church at 2:00 p.m. for the Community. Resident§ who always enjoyed their kitchen. spent Wednesday afternoon baking cookies with the assistance of Adjuvant, Kathy Shantz and volunteer Joanne McKinley. Enjoyable video tapes were shown on Wednesday evening by Cliff Alex- ander of the apartments. The postponed Valentine's Party programmed by the G.S.M.A. girls of the Zurich Mennonite church was held on Thursday evening. A valen- tine was pinned on each resident, and the program resumed with each girl giving a presentation of the varied talents represented which were piano solos, recitations, public speaking, puppet shows, vocal and guitar solos. Following the program, residents en- joyed refreshments. Residents gathered in the dining room on Thursday morning when they started practicing Irish songs for St. Patrick's Day. The Huron Hope Children visited on Friday morning. Bingo was played on Friday even- ing, followed by refreshments. Due to reasons beyond our control, the chapel service was cancelled on Sunday evening.
