Bro. Abraham will speak at World Day of
The World Day of Prayer will be
held at the United Church this Friday
March 1 at 2:10 in the afternoon with
special speaker Fr. Abraham, a
Jesuit priest who runs an agricultural
school in India. The theme is "Peace
through Prayer and Action".
Travellers home
A very nice two-week trip was en-
joyed by Jack and Sandy Stephan
along with some friends. They flew
from Toronto to Venezuela, a six hour
flight, and were 200 miles from the
equator.
Skating Club dance
Tickets are now on sale for the
skating club dance to be held on
Saturday, March 9 at 9:00 p .m. at the
Zurich Community Centre. Cost is
$8.00 per couple with the Cavaliers
Band supplying the music. Tickets
are available at Shaws Store, from
dub members or president Laura -
Ann Overholt.
The figure skating club also held a
draw last Tuesday for a Cabbage
Patch doll bed that went to sisters
Elyshia and Marcia Denomme of RR
1 Dashwood, daughters of Jim and
Maureen who were among those that
raised over $25.00 on the recent skate-
a-thon.
Golden Agers
The Golden Agers held their annual
quilting bee and pot luck supper at the
township hall on Monday, February
25 with a very good turn -out. They
also had 15 out for lunch.
Lucien and Nora Corriveau at their
apartment at Spruce Villa were
children, Luella and Chester Loucks,
Leo Paul and Ann Corriveau
(newlyweds) and Cyril and Lynda
Corriveau with new baby Christine
Monique all of London. Also Julie
Gelinas, Zurich.
Doug and Julie DeBus, and Paul
and Shirley Bedard spent Saturday
and Sunday in Stratford with their
brother and wife, Leo and Gail DeBus
and children.
George and Elaine Keller of
Dasbwood along with some friends
enjoyed spending from last Tuesday
to Thursday at the Wheels Motor Inn
iri Chatham while their children
stayed with their grandparents, 'Pony
and Adeline Denomme in Zurich.
Lillie Julie Elaine Brandon,
daughterof Pat and Terri Brandon
( nee Paul) Bayfield was baptized on
Sunday, February 24 at St. Peter's
Catholic Church by Fr. Bensette with
godparents Denise and Roger
O'Brien, RR 2 Zurich. A family get
together and supper for 35 relatives
followed afterwards at the parish
half. .
Diane Klopp of Toronto spent the
weekend with hor parents Mr. and
Mrs. Herb Klopp.
Ross and Shirley Cooper of Inger-
soll
ngersoll and Ruth -Ann Flaxbard, London
were Sunday dinner guests with their
parents Earl and Anne Flaxbard.
Jim and Joy Hogg, RR 2 Zurich,
returned home on Sunday after a nice
month's holiday in Texas visiting with
her sister. They also spent some time
in Mexico.
Their daughter, Roberta Robert-
son, arrived on the weekend from
Vancouver to spend a week with her
parents as well as two sisters and
their families. She will attend her
sister-in-law's wedding in Hamilton
on Saturday.

March of Dimes
The Ontario March of Dimes 1985
lund-raising campaign is officially
over. Chairpersons Pauline Miller
and June Fisher are pleased to report
a total of $988.76 was collected in
Zurich and district. Special thanks to
the dedicated volunteers who worked
so hard, and to everyone who gave
Learning for Lent
Learning for Lent is being held at
the Zurich United church on Thurs-
day mornings from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.
for three weeks. The first session on
February 21 began with a good tur-
nout to hear Patti Robertson speak on
"What's New in Decorating". This
Thursday February 28, Rosemary
Ferguson will show "how to make and
decorate Easter eggs". Everyone is
welcome. Cost is $2.00 per session.
• Babysitting is provided for
preschoolers. Bible study will be con-
ducted by Rev. Barbara Laing, with
the topic being Women, Who Are We.
On Tuesday evenings a Lenten Pro-
gram is being held at St. Peter's
School, St. Joseph, with theme,
"Focus on Family".
Operetta
The Operetta "Tom Sawyer" is be-
ing presented by the grade seven and
eight students of St �onifa �-hool--: _ -
this Thursday, February 28 at 7:30
p.m. in the gym. Advance tickets $2.(0

Father Stephen Eckert Council
5289, Seaforth, hosted an inter -council
meeting of district 31 at their general
meeting on Thursday, February 21
which involved acouncils from
Goderich, Clinton, Listowel, !lesson,
Stratford, and Zurich at their council
chambers in St. Columbian.
Guest speaker Paul Steckle,
warden of Huron County, gave a very
interesting talk on the operation of the
county.
A social time concluded the
meeting with euchre and lunch.
The lucky winners of the Share -the -
wealth draw were Sue Rau, RR 2
Zurich winning $119.00 and consola-
tion prizes of $25.00 going to Jim'
Maloney and Chris and Sheri Maloney

restful two-week vacation in the sun-
ny south. While there they visited with
friends, Dot and Gord Hess who had
just purchased a summer home in
Puerta Gorda, Florida. They also
spent some time with Morris and Kay
Webb at West Palm Beach, Fla.
Upon returning homethey received
a phonecall from Ka who was all ex-
cited about getting a hole -in -one on
Friday at the Palm Lakes executive
golf club which entitles her to a draw
on a trip to England, a write up in the
golf digest and many more valuable
prizes. Congratulations Kay!
Rick aid Marg Gingerich have
returned home from a nice, warm,
two-week vacation at Daytona Beach,
Florida, where they visited with her

parents, Marinus and Joanne Ver-
munt. They also attended a conven-
tion in Orlando, in connection with the
new line of tractors at C.G. Farni
Supply.
Marg's brother Joseph also spent a
week in Florida and.returned home
with them.
Recently, Joanne and Don Boyes
visited with her parents there also.
