Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid met
Wednesday afternoon, February 13
with group 2 and Mrs. Earl Kellet•
convener was in charge of Devotions
and lunch. President, Mrs. Florence
Marlene opened the meeting with the
hymn "What a friend we have in
Jesus", scripture reading and prayer.
Mrs. M. Mellecke read valentine
poems.
The Alter Guild reported visits to
the Blue Water Rest Home and
Maplewoods apartments as well as
phone calls. The new Guild is Mrs.
Harry Hayter and Miss Helen
Nadiger.
There were 16 members
present
and two guests. Cards of thanks and
donations were received. The card
secretary reported two get well, two
birthday cards and one flower sent
out.
It was decided to sponsor The
Lutheran Hour. Pastor Mellecke
spoke on the topic, "Augustine -
Defender of the Faith". There were
scrambled words and crossword
puzzles. Mrs. Keller said closing
devotions followed by lunch.

Unit III of Granton U.C.W. met at
the home of Ruth Cook. The presi-
dent, Janey Nixon, opened with a
poem "Now I have happiness."
For the program Ruth Cook read
about being close to Jesus even in a
crowd and the importance of seeking
solitude. Elizabeth Garrett assisted in
n . .__meditation on "The
Lord's Prayer'. A cane was t as
each point was made, and these were
placed around the Bible. Personal
feelings about prayer were shared
before closing the meeting with
poems on love.
The next• meeting of Unit III will be
held in the United Church on Wednes-
day. March 6 at 8 p.m. when Bill
Brady of London, founding president
of Transplant International will be the
guest speaker. Everyone is welcome
to attend this special meeting.
1-11 News
The second meeting of Granton 4-1
club was held at the home of Andra
Bannerman. We opened the meeting
with the 4-11 pledge. Roll call was to
show the three knit garments that you
had brought from home, and tell what
kind of content or care instructions
you found on the Zabel.
Leader April Bryan showed us how
to take our measurements and then
we decided what size of patterns and
material we could sew and decided to
buy our patterns and tnaterial for
homework. Next meeting will be held
at the home of Kaline Roloson on
February 21. We would like to thank
Andra Bannerman for holding the
meeting.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins,
Lois and family were guests in honor
of the 40th wedding anniversary of
Mr. and Mrs. Gladwyn Langford of

At Granton United Church. Rev.
Bruce Pierce was m charge of morn-
ing worship and entitled his message
"Are we part of the problem or of the
answer?"
Among the many problems we have
today are broken marriages and
divorce," said the minister and men-
tioned three passages of scripture
that we could refer to - Galatians
5:19-20, Matthew 15:19-20 and 11
Timothy 3:2-5.
Rev. Peter Derrick was the
celebrant al the holy eucharist
assisted by John Herbert as server at
Sl. Thomas Anglican church. The
crucifer was David Jones and the
pianist Lois Herbert. The two lessons
were read by Kenny Beatson and Lois
Herber) and the gospel by the rector_
The Rev. Ikrrick preached his ser-
mon from second book of Kings 5:1-14
and Mark 1:40-45. This was on
spiritual healing. God does move and
heal so we must honor God and his
healing whatever it may be Next
