The school board decided to turn down a proposal to increase their honorariums by four percent each year for the next three years. The pro- posal was made by trustee Frank Falconer at the board's February 4 meeting. Falconer said younger trustees could have a problem getting along on the money they received as trustees. The youngest trustee on the board, Tony McQuail, said Falconer's idea of increasing stipends a small amount each year instead of a large amount in one year was "sensible". However, he said he would vote against the in- crease because he finds the current stipend "generous". Trustees now receive $400 per month and the chairman receives $600 per month. The stipend has been at that amount since 1982. The Education Act allows the honorarium to be changed only before an election. The incoming board is not allowed to increase the honorarium, only decrease it. "In my opinion, we are receiving adequate compensation," said trustee John Elliott. Goderich trustee Dorothy Wallace noted that the media could play up the fact that the school board could not af- ford French immersion but could af- ford to give themselves a.raise. 4 The Hair Shoppe Has Relocated 423 Main St. e Open Tues. 8:30 - 6, Thurs. 8:30 - 8:30, Fri. 8:30 - 6:00 Sat. 9:00 - 1:00 l specialize NOT OPEN Mondays In difficult to porn, hair or Wednesdays Joyce Mauer 235-1410 Rear of Doug Parkers Barber Shop Same Phone No. 235-1 41 0 Same name - The Hair Shoppe Grand Opening Perm Sprecial February 26 to Murch 15th Special.
