Mohawks run season win total to 18
The Exeter Mohawks scored two
victories this week in the Western On-
tario Athletic Association in-
termediate division to up their season
record to 18 victories along with one
loss and one tie.
Friday, the Mohawks edged the
Monkton Wildcats 5-4 and Sunday
night in Drayton it was an easy 10-2
romp over the Drayton Oilers.
The final scheduled game of the
season for the Mohawks comes Sun-
day night at 8:30 p.m. at the South
Huron Rec Centre when they play
host to the St. Clements Saints.
The playoffs involving the
Mohawks, Wingham Royals and
Teeswater Falcons in round robin ac-
tion starts February 13 and continues
February 15. Both games are away.
The home games are February 21
against Wingham in Hensall and
February 24 at the South Iluron Rec
Centre with Teeswater supplying the
opposition.
In Friday's win over Monkton, Pete
Tuckey led the Exeter scoring attack
with a three goal performance. Mark
Cronyn notched the other two scores.
In the playmaking department
Brian Mercer was tops with three
assists to his credit. Terry Caldwell
and Janie Caldwell each contributed
a pair of assists with Dave Kinsman
and Pete Tuckey gaining single
assists.
In Drayton Sunday night, the
Mohawks took a 2-1 first period lead
on goals by Pete Tuckey and Dave
Jackson with Mark Cronyn, Brian
Mercer and Barry Baynham
assisting.
The Mohawks broke the game open
with four unanswered goals in the
middle 20 minutes of play. Ken Varley
fired a pair of successful shots and
Barry Baynham and Jamie Caldwell
scored in single fashion. Brian
Mercer and Jamie Caldwell were
double assisters with Baynham and
Cronyn picking up single assists.
In the third period, Brian Mercer
notched two goals for the Mohawks
and Pete Tuckey and Marty Wraith
checked in with singles.

to seven Picking up lone assists were
Jim Guenther, Dave Kinsman, Barry
Baynham and Mark Cronyn.

Irish third place lead dwindles
The Lucan Irish gained only one bound as Wayne Urbshott converted

TYKE TOURNEY
The Exeter Tykes who were idle
from play this week were busy with
practices Saturday and Tuesday after
it was announced they will host a four -
team tournament in March.
The South Huron area tournament
will involve teams from Zurich, fien-
sall and Huron Park with Exeter
hosting the event.
The tournament will he run in the
evening of the March 11, 14 and 15 in
a round robin style that will see each
team play each of the others over the
three days. Game times will be 6 p.m.
and 7 p.m. for the second game of
each day.
