WILLIAM ROHDE Mrs. Barry Jeffery and Mrs. William Rohde attended the 18th an- nual meeting of the Huron -Perth Presbyterial at Wingham United Church, Monday. Church Service The minister, Rev. Robert Matheson was in charge of the fourth Sunday after Epiphany and the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper. He told the children a story entitled "Love Is The Strongest." The meditation was entitled "Beating At The Heart of Life." Paul instructs us as to how to wor- ship and Mark unveils the tasks of Jesus for us, he introduces Jusus' authenticity to us in a vivid manner. Jesus gives us signs he is the one of ' whom Moses has spoken in Deuteronomy. We are challenged to do justice. We are invited to the table when we do not deserve to be - this is a taste of God's justice of which all are to have a part of. The United Church Creed was read in unison. The members of session then distributed the Elements of Sacrament. The Fellowship Group meeting will be held Sunday, February 24 at 8 p.m. in Thames Road Church. Rev. Robert and Mrs. Matheson and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stewart are in charge of the meeting. The official board meeting of both churches will be held in Thames Road Church, Monday, February 25 at 8 p.m. Personals Messrs Grant and Scott Hodgert ar- rived home Friday evening after at- tending the wedding of their cousin Brad Cann in Australia in December. They toured Australia. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Duncan and Douglas, Ottawa spent the week -end with the former's parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack Duncan. Saturday they all were guests at the Passmore -Parker wedding in Aylmer, also the reception. Edwin Miller arrived home on Sun- day evening after having been in the Philippine Islands for the past month. On arriving home he heard of the sud- de assing of his only brother, the laverard Miller of Exeter. The sympathy of the community is extended to the family and relatives of the late Everard Miller. Many peo- ple from this area called at the Hopper -Hockey Funeral Home on Sunday to pay their respect. Mrs. Arthur Hankinson, Montreal is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Barry Jef- fery and boys for a few days. Miss Barbara Miller, Toronto spent the week -end at her home here. T -A photo Times -Advocate, February 6, 1985 Page 7 Caven ladies elect The annual meeting of Caven Presbyterian Church was held Wednesday evening, January 30. In the Ministers reflection Rev. Mr. Knight repeated some of the thoughts expressed in a sermon "The Gift of Time". The impoortance of each in- dividual making a personal invest- ment to the work and activities of the church in the giving of time. The church takes time - the gift of time is essential for the life of the church. Printed reports are available for all members. Appreciation was express- ed in absentee to Mrs. David McClure and Mrs. Jean Carey for the printing of bulletins and annual reports. A vote of thanks to the minister for his leadership and guidence in 1964 was recorded and money raised for all church purposes was $40,700. • The following were elected as church officers: Envelope secretary - Mrs. Charles Dalrymple, Cromhenex treasurer - James Glasgow, Treasurer - James Dongall, SS Superintendent and Treasurer - John McNeilly, Trustees - Harry Strang, John Corbett, Norman Stanlake, Cradle roll secretary - Sheila Dougall. Board of Managers - Douglas Dalrymple, Ken Oke, Keith Strang, David Moore, Bill Thomson, Darryl Keys and representative from P.C.W. Gordon Auxilary and Session. Pentecostal WMS The January Meeting of the Women's Ministries of the Pentecostal Tabernacle was held at the home of Mrs. Jean Jolly with 16 members present. The meeting opened by singing of hymns. Mrs. Donnan presided at the piano. Prayer was offered by Mrs. Hilda jzenga. The 7511 call was answered with a verse of scripture containing the word "Snow". The minutes of the last meeting were read by Mrs. Ada Triebner. The financial report was read by Mrs. Mary Blanchard and letters and cards of thanks were read by Mrs. Ruth McLaren. Also a letter from head office re the opening of a new church in Bradford with Brian Ren - nick and family pastoring. The missionary reading was given by Mrs. Estrilla Finkbeiner. Mrs. Donnan gave the message of the afternoon. Looking back over the year we can all think of the many ways we could have improved our testimony. Our thoughts, our words and doings are so very important. Every life we touch is a field of ministry. God sent His Son to minister so ought we to minister His calvary love. Prayer time followed with each member participating. The meeting was closed by singing a couple of choruses and a delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Jean Jolly and Mrs. Ada Triebner. By ALICE DICKENS A goodly number of Happy Gang seniors met Wednesday noon for their pot -luck dinner in the town hall. Following the delicious meal, seven tables of euchre were at play. The following won prizes - Evelyn Trevithick, Florence White, Becky Ross,Don Lockhart, Jennie Hartle, Levi White. President Harold Guilfoyle welcomed all and reminded them of the next euchre, February 13 at 1:30 It was fun, food and fellowship Mon- day evening at the Activity Centre. Having a variety of games such as crokinole, aggravation, dominoes and rook,brought forth many a laugh. Piping hot tea' with tasty cookies along with a neighbourly visit brought a pleasant evening to a close. President Ervin Gingerich welcom- ed all. Remember films will be shown in the Centre, Friday, February 15. This is another service, the Activity Centre committee offers the seniors.
