BOWLING FOR ETHIOPIA - Sixty-five ARC employees and 12 staff raised more than $600 for Ethiopian famine relief at a bowlathon at Zurich's Town and Country Lanes. Proprietors Tony and Marlene Bedard donated the use of bowling shoes and lanes. Staff members Brian Decker and Wendy Patterson keep score while staffer Bonnie Jones (right) waits to bowl with employees Paul Consitt and Jerry Collins. Paul collected the largest amount of pledge money. Family and Sharon Silverstein and Rose -Marie all of London. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Schroeder held Christmas dinner at their home on Sun- day. Dec. 23 for family and relatives on his side. Our families gathered together on Tues. Dec. 25 to celebrate Christmas together. As usual we enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings along with the rest of the family of Mozart and Marie Gelinas Sr. Other -large family Christmas dinners were held December 25 at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Overhgll and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Farwell. The family of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Bedard Sr. all got together for the holidays at their home on New fear's 1) Mrs. Margaret Kalbflersch spent the Christmas holidays with her children and families in Toronto - Brampton. The children of Florence Denomme and their spouses. along with her grandchildren, held their family Christmas get-together for 22 at the Dominion on December 23 with a turkey dinner. Mac and Jean Klopp returned home last Thursday after spending Christmas with their sons and families, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Klopp in Toronto and Mr: and Mrs. Russ Klopp in Milton. Gen Doyle was the lucky winner of the Christmas gift basket from the draty made at the bakeshop on Dec. 24. Mr.and Mrs. Mozart Gelinas Sr. enjoyed dinner al the home of their grandson. Marc and Cindy Gelinas and two children of London spent Sunday with his parents and New Year's with friends Pat and Jane Bedard. (Cougar Column Zurich Public School Students in grade 4, 5, 6 and 7 have been busy putting together the junior operetta. 'Most of Grade5and6are in- volved with acting and the choir is made up of grades 4 and 7. . On Thursday, December 20. at 1 p.m. students watched our annual Christmas film. On Friday, December 21 grade 6 and 7 put on a special assembly from 9 to 10 a.m. All were welcome to attend. On Friday various classes travelled by bus to entertain the Blue Water Rest Home. The month has been very busy for students. All of us have been practicing very hard for the Christmas Play. The performances were on Tuesday. December 18 al 1:30 and Wednesday, December 19 at 7:30. ()n December 20 the whole school saw the annual Christmas film. As always the film was kept a total secret. Also on December 20 the SIMDI'S Theatre Arts group performed for our 1-5 classes. The Christmas Dinner was held for grades 7 and 8 students and staff at Z.P s There were lots of goodies such as turkey. mashed potatoes and apple pie. We would also like to thank Mrs. Oesch for being such a kind. wonderful teacher and we are sorry to see you go. Happy Retirement. Mrs. Oesch New Year welcomed at Community Centre dance A good time was had by all A by all who attended the New year's Eve dance at the Zurich arena with music supplied by Mozarts Melody Makers, complete with hats and horns and a delicious smorgasbord lunch at midnight, sponsored by the Lions Club. Golden Agers The Zurich Golden Agers will be meeting on Monday, January 14 at 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon at the township hall, followed by exercise at Go/clen A "Happy New Year", one and all. Everyone should be reasonably happy with the "great weather we are enjoy- ing, whether or not it will last. Many of our residents were able to spend Christmas with their families, mainly because of the good weather conditions. The month of January is usually a long, drab month. so the weather we have had will make it more tolerable. Residents enjoyed all of the entertainment provided for them over the holiday season, also the many treats receiv- 2:30. All Seniors are invited. Card Club Girls The Card Club girls (8) had a little holiday get-together at the home of Ina Neeb last Friday. ('hristnras Guests Christmas Day guests with Jack and Lenora Turkheim were Richard Turkheim and Miss Carol Biro from La Ronge, Saskatchewan. Mr. and Mrs. William Billington. Renwick, London. Bill and Marion Billington and sons Z`nt ei ed by both residents and staff. Mass was celebrated by Fr. Mooney on Monday, December 24. The Conservative Men- nonite young people sang carols throughout the Home on Christmas Eve. Bingo was played on Friday evening followed by refreshments. The Sunday evening chapel service was conducted by Mr. Peter Snell of Exeter United Church. Grainger Christmas A very nice Christmas family get-together was held at the home of Russell and Elizabeth Grainger on Sat., Dec. 29 at their home with 35 for supper. Those present were Wayne and Helen Horner with children. Cam and Shelley, from St. Paul's Alberta and daughter Cathy Fawcett and two sons, Ken( and Scott from Sherwood Park, Alberta, who arrived on Iiecember 27 for two weeks. Also present were Phyllis and Jim Ramer and three children, Jamie, Chad and Jill from Avon, New York State, who have been spending the past three weeks with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Ramer.
