IRVIN RAQER Stephen Central School presented their Christmas program of skits and songs Tuesday, December 18 loan overflowing audience. Businessmen's dinner Dashwood Business Association • members met Monday. December 16 with 37 present at the Horseshoe Din- ner for an enjoyable supper and evening. ' Carolling Dashwood United Church choir and Zion Lutheran church choir were out carolling to the sick and shut-ins Wednesday evening. Later they gathered at the United Church for games and lunch. Carolyn (Mrs. Ron Voogel ► of Winterburn, Alberta, is spending, some time with her grandmother; Mrs. Anna Heckman, due to the death of her grandfather, John Heckman, while her mother Mrs. Doreen Wilhelm is recovering in University hospital where she received a new kidney. Zion Lutheral Ladies Aid packed 22 shut-in boxes Sunday afternoon. Calvary United church packed 8 boxes last Monday. People were very generous with their gifts of goodies. Attend Festival Pastor and Mrs. Mellecke, Joanne Maguire. .Grand Bend; ttarfiel and Elizabeth Mellecke, and Saara Kud- joi, Goderich, attended the 8th annual Boar's Head Festival at Concoria Col- lege, Ann Arbor. Michigan on December 15. They were jgined by Rachel Mellecke. a student at the college. The Festival is a musical involving orchesta, choir and audience par- ticipation. It begins with the chapel. turned into a medieval manor house . where many customs and symbols of Christmas are first introduced. Since ancient tines the fierce wild boar -has been a symbol of evil. Then the chapel becomes a stable and the Christmas story is presented. Bruce Pierce was in chhrge of the ser- vice for fourth Sunday in Advent, and took the text for his sermon from Luke II 1 - 7 and entitled his message "A personality at Behlehem... the baby Jesus" The lighting of the four candles in the Advent candle was per- formed by the Clif Watep family. The choir sang three Christ as anthems. In the children's story the minister explained why they got presents on Jesus' birthday. In his sermon Rev. Pierce said "We have more to live - with now but less to live for". May the childhood spirit be with us not only at Christmas but all through the coming year. HEBER DAVIS The carol and lesson service was held at St. Patrick's church Sunday " morning with Rev: Peter Derrick in charge. Mrs. Joe French of Granton provided music for the service. There was a good attendance but ` due to heavy roads. I did not get out. Service next Sunday is planned for 8:45 a.m. - Mr. and Mrs. Bob MacGillivray and girls visited Bob's parents,: Mr. and ,Mrs. John McGillivray at Dorchester, Saturday. The meeting was preceded by a pot luck Christmas dinner. Following the meal, Mrs. Clarence Lewis presided. A number of items of business were discussed and taken care of. The roll call was answered by reading ;a poem pertaining to Christmas. The remainder of the evening was spent with the wrapping of token gifts for the Shut-ins and those in hospital. Mrs. Bernice Lockyer, president of the Lucan branch brought greetings. Mrs. Lewis closed the meeting with prayer. Too late for last week At St. Thomas Anglican Church the Rev.
