Museum One of the greatest resources on tap for the lambton County Museum is a willing volunteer. so last Monday. curator Bob Tremain orginized a par- ty for all those volunteers who help to make the museum such a credit to the community. • Who are these volunteers?. Remember all those'ladies who serv- ed up hundreds of hot dogs, doughnuts and pop at every museum function during the summer? Some people have a knack for discovering signifi- cant, often valuable antique items to add to- the already' impressive catalogue in the museum collection. These, items can range from old books, tools, toys. furniture. all the way up to agricultural implements . and tractors. The larger -pieces. like tractors. require a lot of time and trouble to retrieve. fetes volunteers A farmer may be willing to donate an old tractor, but it takes a strong back and some savvy with old equip- ment to start it up or dig it out of an old barn, Toad it on a trailor and haul the rusty' thing back to the museum. Volunteers help out in many ways, un- seen by the general public. In appreciation, the volunteers were treated to white wine and cheese and assortedbaked goodies, as they swapped yarns about past "finds". What about next season? Well, they all know there's plenty of work -ahead, and,ouf there somewhere. is another "treasure" waiting to be discovered. • .Christmas:at Macey's Twenty-nine people attended the Grand .Bend Women's Institute Christmas dinner at Macey's Lan- ding.
