McGillivray Central - Once upon a time at the North Pole Santa was getting ready for Christmas when some of the elves wept on strike and only a few stayed on staff. "Only two days before Christmas and not too many toys are made," said Santa. Santa begged the elves to come back but noone did so Santa worked very hard to get toys ready for the children. That morning Santa was so sad because he had twenty-nine more toysto make and only twelves, himself and his wife were working. So all of them worked very hard. Then five more elves went on strike and only nine people were left. That night Santa and his wife and elves worked hard.The next day Santa slept until it was time for lunch. After lunch as Santa headed outside to the workshop, he saw something strange in the workshop. The radio was on. I looked oui'the window and I saw people singing Christmas carols. My mom said,"Isn't that sweet?" Dad said,"Yes, that is sweet." They sang Rudolph the. Red Nosed Reindeer, Jinglebells and Silent Night. It was a beautiful Christmas Eve. Dad got a watch for Christmas under the Christmas tree. There was a pair of skis for me. They were from my cousin. His name is Carl.and he said he would take me skiing in the Pinery Park. My sisters got a CareBear and a new cup with the CN Tower on it. My mom said,"Isn't that nice presents Santa left for you?" And we said yes, they are very nice presents. My cousin walked in the. door. He• said,"Are you ready to go cross coun- try skiing?" I said,"Yes,I am ready." . He said,"Let's go." I said,"OK." And, he took me cross country skiing. People are singing Christmas songs, It's just that time of year! Advent season By Rob Hoffman ' Grade's, St. Boniface Christmas is a time when you give and receive gifts. During Christmas you should love your enemies but also love your family and friends. Four peeks before Christmas advent starts. Advent is a time for preparing for the birth of the Christ child. Dur- ing Advent we have a Christmas wreath with three purple candles and one pink. We light a purple candle every week for three weeks. Then during the last week we light the pink candle to show that in one'week the Christ child will be born. This time they worked The Real Meaning of Christmas by Jenny MacLean • Grade 4, E.P.S. Christmas is not just receiving gifts. Over 2000 years ago Jesus was born. Every year Christmas comes and that's his birthday. We celebrate it because Jesus died on the cross for us. Christmas is about love and _understanding, but it is also a school break. We give presents or Christmas cards to let people know we care. There are usually Christmas parties and dances and if you really think about it they're having birthday par- ties for Je§us except without Jesus. That's what I think about Christmas. harder than ever. Now it was almost five o'clock. Santa, looking very sad, said to his wife,"I'm afraid that the children won't get their presents for Christmas.It would have to be a miracle to save Christmas now." At six o'clock the elves, this time all of them, made toys. When Santa went outside he was surprised to see all of the toys ma&. ' So Santa packed the toys, hooked up • the reindeer and went off early because he wanted to see some of his friend before he delivered the presents.
