Santa almost missed Christmas
by Jennifer Ramsay
Grade 3. McGillivray Central -
Once upon a time at the North Pole
Santa was getting ready for
Christmas when some of the elves
wept on strike and only a few stayed
on staff. "Only two days before
Christmas and not too many toys are
made," said Santa.
Santa begged the elves to come
back but noone did so Santa worked
very hard to get toys ready for the
children. That morning Santa was so
sad because he had twenty-nine more
toysto make and only twelves,
himself and his wife were working. So
all of them worked very hard.
Then five more elves went on strike
and only nine people were left. That
night Santa and his wife and elves
worked hard. The next day Santa slept
until it was time for lunch. After lunch
as Santa headed outside to the
workshop, he saw something strange
in the workshop.
The radio was on. Santa stopped to
think -a moment if he had left the radio
. on last night but he didn't leave it on.

Advent season
By Rob Hoffman
' Grade's, St. Boniface
Christmas is a time when you give
and receive gifts. During Christmas
you should love your enemies but also
love your family and friends. Four
peeks before Christmas advent
starts. Advent is a time for preparing
for the birth of the Christ child. Dur-
ing Advent we have a Christmas
wreath with three purple candles and
one pink. We light a purple candle
every week for three weeks. Then
during the last week we light the pink
candle to show that in one'week the
Christ child will be born.

Big rosy cheeks,
And really quite clever.
Loves all kids

He never forgets anyone.
Not even the boys.

Like a bowl full of jelly,
• His reindeer are fast,
And really the best!,
He brings lots of joy.

Santa read his list again and this time
there were more toys on the list:
So Santa ran to tell his wife he need-

The Real Meaning of
Christmas
by Jenny MacLean •
Grade 4, E.P.S.
Christmas is not just receiving
gifts. Over 2000 years ago Jesus was
born. Every year Christmas comes
and that's his birthday. We celebrate
it because Jesus died on the cross for
us. Christmas is about love and
_understanding, but it is also a school
break.
We give presents or Christmas
cards to let people know we care.
There are usually Christmas parties
and dances and if you really think
about it they're having birthday par-
ties for Je§us except without Jesus.
That's what I think about Christmas.
harder than ever. Now it was almost
five o'clock. Santa, looking very sad,
said to his wife,"I'm afraid that the
children won't get their presents for
Christmas. It would have to be a
miracle to save Christmas now."
At six o'clock the elves, this time all
of them, made toys. When Santa went
outside he was surprised to see all of
the toys ma&. '
So Santa packed the toys, hooked up •
the reindeer and went off early
because he wanted to see some of his
friend before he delivered the
presents.
