After- wards, the third Advent Candle was lit, reminding us of the gift of talents, which God has given each one of us. Marlene and Morley Desjardine and Betty Riddell took part in this cereinony. The choir number was ,"Holy Jesus, Little One." Doug Rid- dell read the Scripture, the story of the elder brother lathe tale of the Pro- digal Son. in his sermon on "Grace" Rev. Peebles sought to answer the question "What was so exicting about that first Christmas?" He reminded the con- gregation that man was lost and dead in sin, unable to do anything about his condition. But God, through the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, and His sacrifice, opened the door of repentence. As man steps through the door, he wjll receive forgiveness for his sins and eternal life. Let us not be like the elder brother who allowed envy, jealousy and self- righteousness control him, thereby missing out ' on God's blessings. Rather, let us be like the prodigal son who received forgiveness and was blessed.
