Irish lead up to six points The Lucan Irish won three con- secutive OHA Junior "D" games this week to up their southern group league lead to six points over the se- cond place'111ount Brydges Bulldogs. T -A photo' Broncos win over Hensall The Exeter Broncos broke even in two Shamrock atom hockey league games this week. Thursday they defeated Hensall by a score of 5-1 in an away game and Sunday it was back to home ice and a 6-3 loss to Thamesford. In the defeat at the hands of Thamesford, Joel Smith fired two of the Exeter goals. One came on an unasisted effort and the other on a pass from Mark Brintnell. The other goal for the Broncos was shot by Paul Charrelte on a three-way passing combination with Jeff Lingard and Ryan Stuart. C i()I .III . Fred Godbolt of the Broncos notch- ed the first goal of the game on a solo dash with only 29 seconds remaining in the second period. Early in the third period Dennis Mount counted the only Ilensall score of the game and then the . ilroncos roared back with four unanswered scores. On a more personalnotel do want to say how good it was to see so many of my old hockey 'friends,- many of whom . now play on the Molting - Hawks. I had a wonderful time visiting with them and was quite thrilled by their kind compliments on my own play in the tournament. In the first period, captain Jeff Hodgins, Paul Foran, Brad Muir and ob Hardy were the Lucan marksmen with Brent Martin picking up two assists while Brad Hodgins, Dean Doerr, Jeff Hodgins and Mike Hirtzel helped on one goal apiece. Paul Foran fired two successful shots in the middle 20 minutes of play to up his game total to three Glen Marshall, Brenj Martin and Rob i lar- dy registered single scores. Dean Doerr chipped in with a pair of assists. Setting up one goal each were Waynellrbshott, Scott Denomy, Brad Muir and Mike Hirtzel. In the third period. Foran hit the -Mitchell net again for his fourth goal of the game, Jesse Crawford notched two goals and Al Craig scored a single marker. Brad Hodgins and Brad Muir led with two assists each and Dean Schram, Jeff Hodgins and Glenn Mar- shall gained single assists. Power Plays Help Three power play goals were beneficial as the Irish beat the Bulldogs in Mount Brydges Sunday night. The first two Lucan goals came with the opposition playing shor- thanded. Late in the first frame, Paul Barnes finished off a three-way pass- ing combination with Brad Muir and Brent Martin and earls, in the third in a similar situation Jesse Crawford hit the Mount Brydges net with assists going to Scott Denomy and Martin. Scoring even strength goals for the Irish in the second period were Dean Schram and Brent Martin. Setting up the scores were Dean Doerr, Paul Barnes, Al Craig and Brad Muir. - In the third period.. Brad Muir registered an unassisted tally,,Wayne Urbshott converted a pass from cap- tain Bob '1'hirlwall and Paul- Barnes was on the firing end of a three-way effort with Brent Martin and Al Craig. Due to the increase in the cost of electricity from Ontario Hydro and increases in the cos) of material, the rptail rotes to customers of the Commission will increase by 1.5%.
