IRVIN RADER Dashwood Women's Institute met Tuesday evening December 3 with 17 members and six guests present. President, Mrs. Emil Becker opened the meeting by decorating a small Christmas tree. She described how Martin Luther decorated his tree. Red and green ornaments were a sign of new life. Roll call was answered by telling something you were thankful for. A donation was made to the Town and Country Homemakers. Mrs. Becker and Mrs. Eben Weigand are attending a Home Decor Planning course. Mrs. Eben Weigand's group was in charge of the program. Mrs. Mildred Kellerman read a beautiful Christmas story. Christmas carols were sung followed by Ding Dong euchre. Prizes were awarded Howard Datars, Mrs. Frieda Keller, Mrs. Mildred Kellerman, Mrs. Greta Miller, Mrs. Pearl Miller and Mrs. Melvin Stade. A delicious Christmas lunch was served. Personals Mrs. Arvis Rader and Mrs. Shirley VanDorsselaer, Stratford, were Wednesday visitors with Mary Rader. Shirley also visited with Helen and Mrs. Maggie Nadiger. Paul and Susan Rader, Ben and Robin spent Saturday with Mary Rader. The. weather was beautiful and the biggest thrill was to see the space shuttle take off. Everyone had a great time. Ross Hodgert find Mrs. Bill Rohde were among those who at- tended the Christmas meeting of the Kirkton Horticultural Society at the Kirkton Woodham Community Cen- tre, Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bray, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stewart, Mr. Ray Cann, Mr. and Mrs. Reg 'lodged, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jeffery, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jeffery and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rohde attended the South Huron Mentally Handicapped annual banquet at South Huron Rec Centre, Thursday evening. Ray Cann and Bill Rohde played their violins, Bob Jeffery his banjo and Harry Jeffery his guitar. Mrs. Reg Hodgert accompanied the m on the piano. They played for the people to dance which they much enjoyed. Quite a number of people from this community attended the Santa Claus parade in Exeter on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Johns visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rohde, Satur- • day evening. At time of writing Ken Duncan is a patient in Stratford General Hospital. Get well wishes are extended to Ken. Mr. and Mrs. Reg Hodgert and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Passmore helped Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Christie celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary by go- ing out to dine. Later they all return- ed to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Passmore for the evening. Con- gratulations to Calvin and Gwen. White Gift Service The annual White Gift Service was held Sunday morning with Superintendent Mrs. Dave Passmore in charge of the service of which the theme was "Only A Stable". The members of the Sunday School enacted the Christmas Story and read the different passages from the Bible. Different Christmas carols were sung accompanied by the organist Miss Agnes Bray. The Christmas concert will be held on Sunday December 15 at 8 p.m. in the church basement. l9
