Santa visits Crediton, Sunday

Crediton and District Social Club
held their Christmas dance at (he
Community ('entre Saturday. Music
was supplied by ('rystalaires. Ther'.
was a good turn out and a hot roast
pork steal was supplied by (he lunch
committee.
Sunday alternom the Creditor) and
District Social Club held their
Christmas party for the children.
Films were shown, pop and candy
were given to each child and a visit
from Santa.
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Preszcator were
Sunday supper guests with Mr. and
Mrs. David Isaac and Tasha, Exeter.
Mrs. John Arbo and Belinda.

of Edgar Treitz of Marsden, Saskat-
chewan of his death in his 90th year.
Ile was the son of John and Caroline
Treitz of Crediton.
The sermon topic al Zion United
Church was taken from Isaiah 2:2-4
and Luke 2: 1-20 titled "The Great
Gift". If you had your choice what
would you want for Christmas?
Next Sunday the Sunday School
Christmas program begins at 10:30
a.m. Following the program.
everyone is invited for lunch and a
time of fellowship in the Sunday
School rooms. Please bring sand-
wiches and cookies or squares.
Refreshments are supplied by the
-UCW.
The December meeting of the UCW
Was held, 'Thursday evening at Zion
United Sunday School rooms. Wor-
ship service was in the charge of Jean.
Neil, Elva Lamport and Cora Wein.
Scripture readings and Christmas
poems were read by Jean and Elva.
A short play enacting the scene at
Bethlehem entitled To Bethlehem
with Love was given with Jean as nar-
rator, Cora and Elva as Mary and
Joseph. Doris Swartz- and Eleanor
1(oeszler as shepherds and singing
Christmas hymns.
A short business meeting was con-
ducted by president Leila Finkbeiner.
Roll call was answered by naming
your favourite carol. Renovations at
the manse were discussed.
A special Christmas collection was
taken to be sent to The Survival
Through Friendship House of Huron
('ounty. January meeting will be on
January 9th. Hostesses were Ruth
Miller. Norma Fahner, Eleanor
Roeszler and Mary Elder.

who is 92 years of age on -December

apartment and enjoying reasonable
good health, other than his failing
eyesight.

United Church UCW Christmas pot
luck dinner and program. Wednesday
night.
(;wen and Irene Lynn were guests
at Zion West U('W meeting, Wednes-
day evening. Gwen gave a
demonstration of crafts as part of the
Christmas program.
Audrey and Jim Scott, Carol and
Frank Hardy, attended the Soy Bean
Annual Meeting and Convention, held
at the Wheels Inn. in ('hatham, Thurs-
day and Friday.
.We welcome Arden Shantz. agent
for Powell Real Estate to our com-
munity. Ile purchased Art Bell's
home. Art has moved to London.

lunch al the ('raighohne Activity ('en-
tre. following the funeral of the late
Mrs. Myrtle Brownlee.
Ten tables were in play for the
euchre party at St..lames church on
Tuesday evening. Prizes went to high
scores. Eileen Pullman, Earl
Morgan; lone hands, Helen
McDonald. Ron Fahner; low scores,
Gladys Cunningham and Alma
Hodgins. Special draw was won by
Marilyn Dixon. Next party is
