Ailsa -Craig Pathfinders
told of local government

The First Ailsa Craig Pathfinders
held their regular meeting on
November 6, when their leader, Mrs.
Marilyn Barbe, conducted the open-
ing prayer and song.
The Pathfinder had as their special
speaker, Jack Whitmore, who spoke
on the local government, municipal
government, elections, local issues,
government agencies, and people
employed by government.
Through the discussion, the
Pathfinders were able to complete
their community No. 1 challenges.
Mrs. Barbe presented the speaker
with a 75 celebration slogan pen from
Girl Guides of Canada. Then, in turn,
he gave the girls each a Jack Whit-
more personalized pen.
The unit discussed business which
O itAuded their upcoming trip to Toron-
to and the enrolment to take place for

to. on November 16 proved very in-
teresting. There were many exhibits
about possible careers for the future.
Before returning home, the group
enjoyed a tour of the Royal Winter
Fair. ---
Enjoy supper
The -congregation of the Ailsa Craig
Presbyterian church met the evening
of November 24 for their family
Christmas supper. The tables were
prettily decorated with candles.
There was a short program by the
church school members directed by
Ruth McCallum and Annie Eagleson.
Mr: Ward, Mr. Forum, Wayne Hind -
marsh, Ross McCallum and Mrs.
Robinson read scripture passages
which were interspered with
Christmas carols.
Everyone enjoyed the evening,
especially the children, as they seem-
ed to have captured the spirit of
Christmas joy andfhappiness.
Birthday party
The Rocking Chair group provided
enjoyable music for the November
birthday residents of Craigholme. By
all, reports, the Craigholme bazaar
was a success when many attended.
The last film night for this year was
held on November 29 at the Activity
Centre. "Castles and gardens," "Aizu
holiday" and "Portrait of Bermuda"
was enjoyed by the group of seniors.
Christmas carols led by John Mac-
donald was sung all between the
films.
Ervine Gingerich, president of the
Centre, welcomed everyone, and an-
nounced that Games Night would be
January 24, 1986.
Lunch was served by Isabel) Stokes
and committee.
The Happy Gang seniors enjoyed a
delicious pot luck dinner at noon
followed by nine tables of progressive
euchre on November 27 at Legion
Hall. Winners were Evelyn
Trevithick, Sybil Stephenson, Jenny
Hartle, Levi White, Jack Trevithick
and Roland Neil.

enjoyed at Centralia

Centralia
The Centralia UCW Christmas
meeting was held Thursday at the
church at 6:30 with husbands and
guests being treated to an excellent
dinner arranged by Freda Hollings,
Donna Smith and Aldeen Skinner
assisted by group two.
The program was under the leader-
ship of Marian Abbott, Iva Blair and
Janet Hicks assisted by group 1. A
Christmas carol sing song was led by
Don Stuart with Glena Tripp at the
piano.
Iva Blair welcomed everyone and
conducted a brief business meeting.
The Scripture was read by Janet
Hicks followed with prayer by Marian
Abbott. Brent and Kurt Mills sang
followed by a reading entitled

"Horse" by 011ie Essery. A humorous
poem "Dad's_ Old Trousers" was
presented by Mildred Greb. Shawn
McCurdy sang "Away in a Manger"
and Margaret Cook read a poem
"Christmas in Florida".
Shawn Willert played several
guitar numbers followed by a poem
"For Christmas Is" given by Adeline
Elli June Essery read "The
Original Christmas". An enjoyable
musical number was given by Sam
Skinner, Bob Blair and Ken Greb ac-
companied by Crystal Zeigler at the
piano.
Gladys Buswell told the origin of
the Christmas carol "Silent Night".
What Christmas Means to Me was
told by Janet Hicks. The special even-
ing closed with prayer.
Personals
Congratulations of the community
are extended to Mr. and Mrs.
Laurence Hirtiel who celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary,
Saturday.
Owing to the storm. December 2,
both the afternoon and evening
euchre parties were cancelled. The
next party at the community centre
will be held on December 16 (weather
petmitting1.
Plan to attend the Christmas enter-
tainment at Faith Tabernacle on Sun-
day evening, December 15 at 7 p.m.
Everyone is welcome.
Mr. and Mrs. William Rimmer ar-
rived here Friday evening from
England and will be spending a few
weeks with his brother Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Rimmer and family.
Mrs. Marlene Moore and Melissa.
Exeter visited on Sunday with Mrs
Von Overholt.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Noels, Helen
MacDonald and Mary Davis all of
Lucan visited Saturday with Tom and
Mary Kooy.

Horticulture
group meet
at Kirkton
The Kirkton Horticulture Society
held its annual meeting and program
December. 3 at the Kirkton Woodham
community centre.
A large crowd enjoyed the pro-
gram. President Joyce Strahan
welcomed all and opened the meeting
by singing 0 Canada.
Jean Ratcliffe introduced the
childrens choir of Central Perth
elementary school near Sebringville.
There are 32 children in the choir
grade five to eight. This choir is con-
ducted by David Strahan. They led
Christmas Carol singing for all then
entertained with several numbers by
the choir. Mrs. Ratcliffe thanked the
choir and conductor for their inspir-
ing music.
Mrs. -Philip Johns introduced Car-
frey Cann of Exeter who gave an in-
teresting talk and showed slides of
rural life on their trip to England,
Scotland and Wales this summer.
Several lucky winners received
poensettias in a draw. Winners in
competition of Christmas ar-
rangements and Christmas crafts
were Mrs. Jean Ratcliffe, Mrs. Josie
Ryckman , Mrs Joyce Strahan, Mrs.
Olive Thomson, Mrs. Gertie Willis
and Mrs. Harold Foster.
Mrs. Calvin Christie and Mrs. Ron
Skinner favoured with musical
numbers on accordions. Mrs. Strahan
thanked all taking part in the
program.
Mrs. Elson Lynn read the minutes
Of the last annual meeting and gave
the treasurer's report. Mrs. Strahan
gave the activity report for the year,
and Mrs. Stuart Shier conducted the
elect) n of officers for 1986.
