One came on an unassisted effort and the others on passes from Mark Coward and Jeff Hannah. The other two goals came from the sticks of Shawn Moore and Steve Anderson with O'Connor and Hannah getting assists on both. More sports on page 16A Fort Erie, Delhi win Exciting action in Lucan Cup Exciting action with a number of overtime games featured the weekend's sixth annual Lucan Cup Challenge. Fort Erie won the 'A' trophy with a 5-4 overtime win over International Stick of Toronto and East London Sports took the 'B' title by beating Kit- chener 3-1. The Fort Erie team took home $4,500_ in cash and the Ron Peters trophy while International Stick's prize money was $1,500. East London Sports received $1,000 and the village of Lucan trophy presented by reeve Norm Steeper and Bryan Smith. In the 'A' final Rick Knutson's se- cond goal of the game at 8.25 of over- time clinched the Fort Erie victory. Captain_ Dan Blair also scored twice. Scoring for International Stick were Bob Ciotti, John Kellett, Steve Sher- man and Bill Sawyer. Fort Erie reached the finals by beating Kitchener 6-5 and London Wolverine 5-3 while International Stick defeated Sarnia 7-6, Windsor 6-3 Claybird gun club elects new officers The Claybird Gun Club had its year end meeting at their club hous4 Sun- day. The new executive committee was elected. President, Charlie Dinney; vice president Jody Mosurinjohn; sec. treas. Donna Mosurinjohn; trapcap- tain no. 1 Doug Moore; trap captain no. 2 Joe Wilds; handgun captain Glen Vickery; high power rifle capt. Wayne Hoffman; 22 rifle captain Dwight Monck and black powder capt. Larry Mason. The club had a good year by hav- ing two successful turkey shoots and a very successful trapshoot for the Exeter Sportsfest this suit mer. There was also a season long trapshoot for members which consisted of shooting 40 rounds, 1000 shots. Swat team, leads - darts The Swat team continues to lead the Exeter Legion mixed dart league with a total of 41 points. The Scotties are four points back in second place and the A Team and 011ie's Best are tied for third spot with 35 points -apiece. During Friday's regular play, Cliff McDonald recorded a perfect score of 180. The gun club itself is a member of a province -wide organization, Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. This organization and the club do a lot of conservation work. in Ontario in- cluding fish, tyildlife and forestry. Each year the -Federation holds a draw and proceeds go to doing the conservation projects of its members. There is an excellent prize list of 41 prizes. Included in this list are a jeep, a car, a boat motor and trailer and a 4 -wheel ATV. Local members are now selling these tickets and hope for good public support to keep these pro- jects going. Bell atoms beat Stephen The Exeter Bell atoms gained their victory of the season as they edged the Stephen township club 2-1. In a se- cond contest, in the WOAA grouping the locals lost 6-4 to Brussels. In the win over Stephen township, Scott Parsons fired both Exeter goals with Brent Miron getting a pair of assists. The lone Stephen goal came on an unassisted effort by Tom Gullage. Against Brussels, Scott Parsons was the scoring leader with two suc- cessful shots. Scoring in single fashion were Jeremy Brock and Brent Miron. and Stratford 3-2 on a goal with eight seconds to go. East London Sports on the way to the 'B' final downed Big Bill's of Dearborn, Michigan 10-4 and Brooklin 4-3 after losing 6-5 to Griffin Sports while Kitchener lost 6-5 to Fort Erie and defeated Aurora 4-2. 1> Del Buck, Fred Horting and Steve Tiller were the London East Sports scorers in the final while Rick Walls replied for Kitchener. The tournament all stars were all from the two teams in the 'A' final. They were goalie Jim Pearce, defenceman Larry Steckley and for- wards Don Blair and Rick Knutson of Fort Erie and dtfenceman Dave Simpson and centre Steve Sherman from Toronto. The Cyclone division in operation for the second year was won by Delhi 7-5 who defeated the Lucan Lasers and the Stephen Stars, B champs with a 9-5 win over Seaforth. Preliminaries in this division were played a week earlier. To reach the 'A' final, the Lucan Lasers defeated Lobo 8-7 and Strathroy 6-4 while Delhi outscored Centralia 5,1 and Goderich 5-3. Rob Funston, Preston Dearing, Blair Hearn and Ron Funston each scored two goals to lead the Centralia Stars, to their 9-5 title win over Seaforth. Scoring the odd goal was Rick Edwards. Tom Hardy is president of the spon- soring Lucan and district men's hockey association and other members are Mike Anderson, John Hope, Pete Martens, Bill Darling, Brian Munro and Rick Gwalchmai.
