Special speaker was P.D.G. Dr. Jim Loucks of the St. Marys Lions dub who spoke on membership and retention. Lion Kevin McKinnon reported $12:3:3.00 was collected for the C.N.I.B. canvass and stag chairman Richard Erb reported a profit -of $225:3.83 from the event held November tat which will be spent on many worthwhile pro- jects) such. as $250.01 to the First Zurich Cub Pack and donated $250.00 to the Iluron' County Christmas Bureau. and are to bby eight sweaters 'plus Lions crests for the pee wee hockey team. and are to order 25 friendly banners. The club will hold their annual Christmas party on Saturday. December 14 at the Dominion Tavern with their wives as guests. Everyone is to bring along a gift 10 exchange. The group have recently delivered new telephone hooks to everyone in Zurich. • These motions were made and secodded at a Director's meeting at the home of President Wayne Meidinger. which also approved the applications of two new members. Kevin Oke and Ralph Geiger. Inter -club visits were made to Clin- ton, Blyth,•St. Marys and Lucknow clubs recently. Dates to remember: Turkey Bingo, December 5: Exeter Lions club parade. ,December 7: Ladies night and Christmas party. December 14: Santa Claus parade and treats tor the children will be on December 21. ('.W.I., Meeting A very interesting talk on first aid in the home and the local ambulance service available was given by Brad Lucas of O'Connor Ambulance of Zurich. Business included financial assistance to Huron Social Services for Christmasgifts► and Huron Day Care for theilomebound, purchase of directories as gifts, planning of the Pro -Life Day (Dec. 81 and the Wine and Cheese Party (Dec. 15) .and report of the Penny Sale. 'Personals Carmel and daughter. little Meagan Sweeney arrived back home Friday safe and sound. after a lovely two.' week vacation visiting with several friends and relatives in Windsor. Tecutnseh and Leamington. Namely her mother. Mrs. Jean Bedard and sisters, Shirley and Mary along with their families, also friends, Roxanne, Regina and Dave and Carolyn Stark and girls. Paul Smith who attends St. Clair College in w inotsor spent the weekend with his parents. Cord and Cecilia Smith and family. Jeannie Groot. a student at the University in Windsor spent the weekend with her parents, John and Bridget Groot. Congratulations to John 4nd Ber- nadete Denomme who cotebrated their "45th" wedding anniversary on Saturday, November 30 with a fami- ly get-together held in Windsor. Ina Neeb has recently taken up residence in the Spruce Villa Apts. A very nice Christmas party and delicious roast bee( dinner was had at the arena last -Wednesday by the staff and their spouses of the Blue Water Rest Home. A ten year service desk pen set was presented to Cheryl Gelinas, while Wilma Erb and Inez Winegarden were given gifts` for their retirement by administrator Mr. Risi. which was followed by a dance. Fr. Mooney was among those who accompanied Bishop Sherlock to Peru recently to help celebrate the 25th an- niversary of the Landon Diocese's presence in the Zana Valley which took place on November 25. All priests who had served in the Diocesan Mis- sion were invited to attend. Fr. Mooney also saw Sister Lauretta while there. Special thanks to Fr. Fuerth and Fr. Fleming for saying Masses in his absence. Our parish (St. Boniface) had 40 hours devotion from Sunday to Tues- day of this past week with (he begin- ning of the first Sunday in Advent under the direction of Father Jansen. director of the Retreat House in Ox - 1 along with neighbouring priest to 11• RO, out with the Sacrament of pegarice. Wood turnout was on hand Sun- day inspite of a wet, cold day to attend the annual Christmas dinner held at the Rest Home for the residents and their families who all enjoyed a delicious smorgasbord meal with a lovely variety of mouth watering dishes, complete with turkey, ham, and plum pudding for dessert. Members of the ladies auxiliary helped to serve. Several friends and relatives at- tended the Open House in honor of 0 Mrs. Susan Kipfer on Sunday, , December 1 at.the, Mennonite Church Fellowship Halt helping her to celebrate her '90th' birthday. Don't forget to attend the Lions 2 Club annual Turkey Bingo being held 1 tomorrow night. Thursday, December 4 at the Zurich arena beginning at 8:00 p.m. with 15games 4 being played for turkeys. (Admission 2 is $2.00). Proceeds will go towards the 3 Childrens' Santa Claus day on • 1 December 21. Also the children are invited to pay 3 a visit to Santa Claus on Saturday, 3 December 7 at the 'Zurich Co -Op 9 branch between the hours of 10 a.m. to 12 noon to tell Jolly St. Nick what I they want for Christmas. John and Bern Denomme spent the 3 last two and a half weeks in Windsor 9 at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs Dan Denomme babysitting their grandchildren while parents, took a their little girl to Toronto Sick 2 Children's Hospital where she under- 2 went twooperations. Needless to say. we had "kali to wall" people who . came early and slant the afternoon enjoying the visits with their families. the food and the music. Guests were here from as far away as London. New Hamburg. Mississauga. Agin- court. Toronto. G(xleric•h. Hamilton. Sarnl;l and surrounding areas. We are indebted to Pearl :Inn Mar- tin. and Grace Martin for their organ and pianoduels. Residents who were out during the week were Aaron Gingerich, Marcella Dietrich, Losetta Fahrner, Valeria Armst rong: On Friday afternoon. some of our Residents enjoyed a bus ride around the area and as far as Staffa where they were able to visit a farm where they have 'a Llama. which proved fascinating for them. Wednesday evening. the staff -board of directors and their wives/husbands, Christmas dinner was held in the Zurich Arena. During the course of the evening Mrs. Cheryl Gelinas was presented with an engraved pen set for having served 10 vers of service at the llome. Mrs. In- ez Winegarden who has resigned after having worked as a Nurses' Aid for almost 19 years and Ik1rs. Wilma Erb also resigned having served as assis- tant cook or 15 years were both presented with engraved silver trays by the Board of Directors.
