OFFICIAL OPENING -- Cutting the ribbon to open Hensafl's newest restaurant, Allen's Foos, are Ken
Allen, proprietor Don Allen, Hensall Reeve -elect Jim Robinson and Jessie Allen.
Already planning to expand
New restaurant opens
Hensall's newest enterprise, Allen's
Food, opened for business last week.
Londoner Don Allen first approached
Hensall Council in late January with
a proposal to open a fast food
restaurant in an addition he planned
to build onto property he had purchas-
ed at the southwestern corner of
Highway 4 and King St.
Allen did most of the construction
work himself, and jokes that he
doesn't know what to do now without
a hammer in his hand.
The restaurant, staffed by Allen, his
wife Jessie, son Ken and Sandy Max-
well, has added extra gourmet
touches to the standard fast food fare.
Bread, muffins and pies are home -
_baked by Mrs. Allen. Coffee is from
Timothy's Coffees of the World. Local
suppliers include Meal's Meats, Sou-
dant potatoes, Tasty Nu Bakery.
Hurondale Dairy and Tuckey
Beverages.
The drive-through service will be in
operation in approximately two
weeks.
At present, the Aliens are living1n
the house attached to,the restaurant.
Future plans call for a; dining lounge
in this area.
A ramp from- the parking area to
the sidewalk and wheel -chair -
accessible washrooms provide fol`the
needs of the handicapped:
Allen hopes everyone fl•dm teens to
seniors will find the restaurant a con-
genial place to come for a hamburg
or a cup of coffee.
Allen,. who also owns ,Select
Draperies in London, intends to open
a branch office of that business in
liensall, in early 1986.
Personals
Alma Horton returned home alter
