Horticulturists
see floral slides
Christmas carols were sung by the
members of the Horticultural Socie-
ty of Hensall at their November 12
meeting: Mrs. Dorothy Mickle ac-
companied at the piano. Speaker Mrs.
Jean Barnett of Goderich and her hus-
band, showed slides of flower beds
from all over the world, having
travelled extensively. She titled the
series, Rambling with Flowers.
Members present were presented
with Paperwhite Narcissus bulbs.
Our annual meeting will be held
January 15, 1986 at 8 p.m. in the
Fellowship Hall.
Winners of door prizes were Helen
Anderson, Mabel McClinchey, Erla
Coleman, Marg Hayter, Bev Moir,
Jessie Shanks, Dorothy Ostrum and
Mildred McNaughton. A lovely lunch
was served by Brenda Russell and
Velma Robinson.
Amber Lodge
Amber Lodge Rebekahs met on
Wednesday evening November 18
with V.G. sister Lois Jones presiding,
assisted by V.G. sister Bonnie Up -
shall. The treasurer gave her report
and V. G. sister Bonnie reported for
the visiting committee.
Several sisters reported having
visited sister Bertha .in South Huron
Hospital. Sister Bertha requested
sister Hazel to express her sincere
thanks to the sisters for their visits
and gifts.
Final* plans were made for the
Christmas party at the next meeting
on- December 4. The meeting will
commence with a turkey supper at
6:30 p.m. Following the meeting there
will be an exchange of gifts with our
secret sisters. •
Carmel Presbyterian
Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted the
service in Carmel Presbyterian
Church on Sunday with Miss Carolyn
Love presiding at the organ. Beginn-
ing next Sunday special services are
being planned to observe the Advent
Season. Choir members are asked to
meet at 10:45 a.m. each Sunday
morning.
A joint meeting of the Board of
Managers and the Clerk Session will •
be held on Thursday November 28 at
8p.m.
The Sacrament of the Lords Supper
will be celebrated on Sunday
December 8 at 11:30 a.m.
PCW Meet
The Presbyterian Church Women
held their meeting Tuesday
November 19.EleanorThompson.lead
the worship with the topic on Remem-
brance Day. Margaret Hoggarth
presided over the business. It was
decided to have a pot -luck luncheon
on Monday December 2. atnoon in the
church basement. There will be no ex-
change of gilts at this meeting, but
money will be donated to a needy
charity.
Thea Wisch was the guest speaker
and demonstrated her expertise at
dried and natural flower arranging.
She completed a wreath for a table
centre piece.
Thea announced that she was
holding an open house on Saturday
November 30 and Sunday December
1 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and invited
everyone to attend. Florence Hyde
thanked Thea and a delicious lunch
was enjoyed by everyone.
Shuffleboard
Suffleboard was enjoyed Thursday
afternoon November 21 at the com-
munity centre. Five game winners
were John Pepper, with 208 and Peart
McKnight with 158 and Jeanette
Turner with 149, Four game winners
were John Consitt with 146 and Walter
Spencer with 138.
Northcrest News
We are happy to have Jessie Arm-
strong home from hospital. Rose
Pyke left for Florida on Friday and
will be visiting with sisters at River-
view for the winter. Another pot -luck
supper was enjoyed on Thursday
evening.
Visiting with Glen and Pearl
McKnight on Sunday were Nelson
McClinchey and Mike French of
Brantford, Carl and Virginia Elg of
Atwood and Berny Finkbeiner of
Zurich.
Hensall Bantams
Hensall bantams captured their
first win of the season when they
defeated Zurich in their home opener
5-3 on November 20. The gan'e was
close, fast and hard-hitting in the
traditional two -town rivalry.
Hensall's Brian Moir assisted by
Dwayne Lawrence was the only
marksman in the first period. Hen-
sall's Scott Bell unassisted opened the
scoring in the second with less than
a minute gone. Zurich's Dean Martin
and Todd Laporte both scored within
nine seconds of each other near the
end of the second to tie up the game.
Hensall opened the third period
with a goal from Moir, assisted by
John Rooseboom and Shawn
Vanstone. Two minutes later Bell
• scored his second of the night assisted
by Rob Taylor with a minute and a
half left, Rooseboom assisted by
Vanstone and Jim Pickens put the
game out of reach for Zurich. Zurich
was able to pop one in with 44 seconds
to go. .
The boys will be playing in Mitchelt
Saturday a.m. and their next finite
game is against Goderich, December
4, 8:30 p.m.

Kindergarten Department Student's
presented a gift of money to buy
Bibles for children overseas. They
were then presented with their Bible
of the Month ('tub Pin as a symbol of
their sharing to bring God's word to
children overseas.
The congregation were reminded
that next Sunday would be Commu-
nion as well as the reception of
transfer mem hers into Hensall
('hurch. Sunday. December 8 will be
the annual White Gift Service and
Pagaent.
'I'he Bible Study Fellowship con-
tinued on Wednesday morning at the
United ('hurch with the group study-
ing God and The Miracles. Wednes-
day. November 27 will be the last
-study group session until after
