Reeve Harold Green and Deputy -Reeve Dennis Snider were both acclaimed. Incumbent Bruce Woodley topped the polls with 235 votes, followed by newcomer Barb Southcott with 203 votes. Newcomer Marsha Lemon finished with 174 and incumbent Doreen Seguin had 169 votes. Three councillors will be sworn in at the first meeting in December. For those Grand Benders who voted in poll 9 at the Southcott Tines Clubhouse station, there will be only one new face on the Township of Bosanquet council. Members for the next three year term are: Reeve Fred Thomas. acclaimed; Deputy -reeve, Raymond Wight, who beat out incum- bent Stephen W. Town; Councillors -in order of votes will be Mary Ellen Anderson, William Kingdon, and newcomer John Russell. The three others who ran for a council seat were Judy Stubbs, Frank Wight and Hugh Hughes. People You Know The FIA (Fundamentals In Action) and Shoppers Drug Mart awarded contest winner Simon Desjardine, G.B. a $50.00 gift certificate last week. He received the $50.00 and a letter from former NHL rep. Pat Stapleton. for his development in hockey skills through the FIA program last season. Jets win two The Parkhill Jets novice hockey team have now won their sixth game with only one loss this season. Against Strathroy last week the Jets won a 4-1 victory, with a two -goal effort from Kelly McAdams. Steve Willemse not- ched one goal and assisted on one and Matthew DeJong scored the other goal. In Lucan on Saturday the Jets had their first loss of the season in a close 5-4 game. The Jets then travelled to Watford on Sunday night and won a close 2-1 match. With new leader in the back, Tino Breuer, are new cubs Michael Stanlake, Josh Vermeulen, Derek Kelders and Derek Rader. In the front is Todd Mellin, Ryon Taylor and Blake Schade. Mrs. Hee was originally from Seoul, Korea, but now lives in Denfield with her husband and four children. She is a registered nurse and presently works in a nursing home. She brought along a beautiful Korean quilt and some clothes. in- cluding her Korean wedding gown and some formal attire. Mrs. Hee gave a very interesting talk on food, clothing. customs and climate of Korea. and even passed around some Korean magazines for the ladies to see. Loreen Gill gave the opening prayer and read the "Legend of the Chrysanthemum." In memory of Remembrance Day. Clara Hamilton read "Why Wear a Poppy?" Beulah Holt read from the scriptures. Loreen then introduced the study books for 1986 on the Canadian In- dians and their story of survival. The United Church will be attempting to assist Indians by engaging in dialogue and conversation with them for a two year period. President Elizabeth Norris presid- ed for the business meeting. Roll call was answered by 30 ladies, each reading a Bible verse with the word peace in it. They also brought in ar- ticles to go to the Family and Children's Services. A thank you let- ter was read from Thamesford Lodge, for cookies sent there. The Christmas Ecumenical will be held on December 17 this year, at the St. John's Anglican Church. The nominating committee of Marg Love and Gettrude Eagleson presented the list of officers for 1986. The past -president is Elizabeth Nor- ris, the president is Loreen Gill, the vice president is Eleanor Durie, the corresponding and recording secretary is Clara Hamilton and the treasurer is Geri Wright. The United assistant treasurer is Hazel Broad, stewarship and finance is Eleanor Durie, -church and society is Elizabeth Adams, world outreach is Beulah Holt, Christian development Norma Carey, and communications is covered by Annie Morenz. Church of God Tuesday evening. members of the Women of the Church of God met in the church basement. The speaker, Lucille Vincent. offered a few sugges- tions on using your talents in the ser- vice of God. Marilyn Cheryl demonstrated the creation of pine cone wreaths for the ladies to con- struct themselves for the upcoming holiday season. Some new officers were elected on the executive, Cecille Barnhart is the new president and Lucille Vincent is the new Vice-president. On Wednesday evening, the youth group continued rehearsals on their Christmas play. The adult Bible class then met. to discuss Ephesians 6:10-20. Pastor Barnhart explained how they inust wear the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness and the shoes of peace. On Friday over 70 members of the '• congregation and their guests joined at the church basement for a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings. After the meal, they took up &.collec- tion to be sent to the missions. Sunday morning Pastor Barnhart spoke from Acts 4:12 in his sermon on "Religion and Christianity." Religion is man's attempt toget to God. Chris- tianity is God's way of getting to man through Jesus Christ. Cecil Barnhart performed a solo. Michelle Vincent played the piano for both services. George Winegarden led the singing at the morning service. On Sunday evening, Pastor Bar- nhart spoke from Romans 8:1 on "Freedom from Guilt." The evening hymnsing was led by Marion Steckle. Bible Coffee, Your Eighteen ladies attended the Bible study Tuesday morning, in the lower lounge at Sauble Court in Grand Bend. Nita Sinclair opended with prayer followed by a hymn sing, led by Millie Desjardine. They began Lesson 13 in the study book "Should.I give myself away?" with Doris Peebles leading the class. They studied Romans 12:1-8, where Paul points out the flow of putting our Christian faith into practice in our daily living. First of all, we must present ourselves completely to God and His service. Become willing channels through which God can work out His plans and purposes for us and our fellow believers. The closing prayer was led by Anne Richarson, remembering the sick and shut-ins. The meeting will be the same time and place next week. Golden Agers Bus Trip Over 30 folks from the Grand Bend Crediton and Dashwood area were on a bus trip Saturday to the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. The horse show was the main at- traction as they watched the finals the "jumping hurdles" class. Then came the judging of the "small pony" class and the magnificent six -horse -hitch teams of Clydesdales, Percherons and Belgians. a truly impressive sight. They all stopped for supper in Kit- chener. The bus left Grand Bend at 8 a.m. and was home again by 9 p.m. The seniors traveled on a McNaughton bus with driver Bill McRoberts and hostess Mrs. Peter McNaughton. passes from Shane Maguire and Jon Smalley, to hold the 1-0 lead until the final period. McAdams made it 2-0, with help from Steve Willemse, followed bya goal from Watford with only 39 seconds left in the game. The tiring Parkhill boys kept their op- ponents from tying it up. ' Alhambra News Algarva No. 168 of Grand Bend held their annual cash draw dance Friday evening at the Thedford arena. An en- thusiastic crowd of 300 or more en- joyed the toe -tapping music of "Night Flight", a band from the Sarnia area: During the course of the evening, 900 tickets were drawn, with numerous $25 winners. By midnight. only a handfull of tickets remained and the grand prize winner of $2,000 -was Sandra Clarke, RR 2 - Grand Bend, who was there at the dance to -receive her prize. Joe Stefanink,-RR 2 Grand Bend won $500.00, Terry Gaudry of Grand Bend won $300.00 and Mike Miller of RR 1 Dashwood won $100.00. Pat Lyon of RR 2 Grand Bend won $75.00 and Mac Stewart of Forest, the only non -local winner of the group, got $50.00. It was a good night for local. residents. Sir Noble Charlie Srokosz was chairman of the event, and members of the CWL provided a delicious lunch of fried chicken and salads. Chalk up another successful fund-raiser for the Alhambra, to enable their charitable work for the mentally handicapped to continue. Legion News There was a good crowd out for both events at the Legion, Tuesday night. Bill Baird and Doris Poli took first place in darts, and Vern Gallant and Eve Rubry got second place. Nor- ma Baird won the 50/50 draw. That will be the last dart game fora while, for Bill and Norma Baird. who have gone south for the winter. For the Friday night euchre game, Elzer Masse took the men's high and Ina Russell got the men's low. Karolyn Brogra took the ladies' high in euchre and Grace Masse got the ladies' low. Alec Russell won the 50/50 draw. On Saturday night the Legion held a darts and social evening, inviting dart players from the Thedford and Ipperwash Legions. About 60 people split into five teams for Grand Bend and five teams for the visitors, and the visitors won, by 30 points to 26. Bob Hedley won the 50/50 draw. Afterward everyone enjoyed the lunch.
