Show salutee to farmers film

-Proud Beginnings". a 29 -minute
color film which salutes the
achievements of Ontario farmers,
past and present, was greatly enjoyed
by the seniors at the Activity Centre
on November 8.
Another film "A song for Arthur",
in a lighter vein, found the main
character, 1 the bread v'inner of the
family 1 was a wee bit overweight. To
solve this problem, diet and exercise
were wise words from the doctor.
Ervin Gingerich, president of the
Centre, welcomed all and reported
that the recent wood carving course
was well attended and included
several ladies. Making a wooden
clock was the popular project.
Evelyn McNaughton and commit-
tee served tea and cookies followed by
a time of visiting.
More interesting films will be
'hown ori November 29.
UCW Meet
in the absence of Mrs. Don Clark,
president of the Ailsa Craig United
Church Women, first vice-president,
Mrs. Bruce Karr, presided at the
November regular meeting last Tues-
day evening.

A tape on Remembrance Day,
reminiscingyears,ago, (by Arthur
Black of the CBC) proved to be very
interesting to the 18 members.
The sunshine convener, Mrs.
Rosser•, sent out five cards.
Those having reports are asked to
have them to Rev. Guy before
January 12, 1986 in order to compile
for the annual meeting on January 26.
The executive are in charge of the
worship and program on December
10. A pot -luck supper is scheduled for
7 p.m.
Mrs. Karr closed the meeting with
a timely poem "Dne drop into the
bucket". •
On Wednesday, November 13, the
Happy Gang seniors entertained the
Ilderton seniors to a dessert euchre in
the Legion hall.
Fifteen tables of progressive euchre
were in play. Winners were Ida
McNaughton, Charlotte Barker, Ada
Little, Helen Loft, Norman Reith, Art
Ferguson. Lucky score winners were
Helen Colvin and Ken Hardy.
More euchre on November 27 with
a pot -luck dinner at noon.

this week with his grandparents Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Duncan. Mr. and Mrs,
Robert Warren and Karen, Windsor,
and Mr. and Mrs. Barrie Oliver,
David, Ryan and Julie, New Ham-
burg visited during the week -end with
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Duncan.
Church Service
Rev. Robert Matheson was in
charge of the regular church service
Sunday morning. We sang "This. Is
My Father's World" and Rev.
Matheson told the children a story en-
titled "Elijah: his faith; his friends."
The choir sang "Building Yes
Building".
The scripture lesson was taken
from 1 Kings 17:8-16, Hebrews 9:24-28,
Mark 12:41-44. The sermon was entitl-
ed "Establishing unity - Karma isn't
instant".

at Saintsbury

The A.C.W. of St. Patricks Church
held a dessert euchre and progresive
euchr eparty Wednesday with eight
tables playing..
Winners were high score Jean
Miller and Murray Carter, Lucan.
Lone hands, Mrs. Swartz, Exeter and
Rose Atkinson, Lucan playing a
man's card. Low scores, Mrs. Shirley
McAlpine, Ailsa Craig and Mrs.
Audrey McRoberts, Exeter playing a
man's card.
A draw was held for two boxes of
groceries and winners were Mrs.
Olive Essery and.Tom Kooy.
Service was held at St. Patrick's
early Sunday morning. Rev. Peter
Derrick was in charge and Mary
Davis provided music for the hymns.
Don Cunningham and Marg Carroll
were readers. Paul Bidell was server.
On request Rev. Derrick's sermon
was on "Hell" to be continued next
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Davis and
Mary Davis were among the busload
of seniors who attended the "Don
Messer Jubilee" at Althouse College,
London, Thursday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Young and
Richard were guests Sunday evening
with their grandmother Mary Davis
and one day recently Mr. and Mrs.
Arnold Kell, Shallow Lake were
guests with Mrs. Mary Davis.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tindall are
celebrating a November anniversary
and Bob's birthday. Saturday evening
Mrs. Tindall held a surprise dinner
for Bob, ang Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Dougall, Exciter and Mrs Kay Elston
were. their guests and Sunday. The
Tindalls were dinner guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Howard Clarke, Shipka, at
Grand Bend.
